Arianna Huffington, the founder of The Huffington Post and the founder and CEO of Thrive Global, wrote an article named “Are You Living Your Eulogy or Your Resume?” (2013). In her article, she claims that people should live for their eulogy, with enjoyment and happiness in their lives, rather than live for their resume, or money and “success”. She talks about the differences between eulogy and resume, and shows what is more meaningful in people’s lives. For example, Huffington argues in her article, “Why do we spend so much time on what our eulogy is not going to be? . . . we spend so much time and effort and energy on those resume entries, which are gone as soon as our heart stops beating (4-7). This shows her belief, that people should not focus on the resumes which will be worthless after they die, but they should spend more time on what their eulogy is going to be. To support her claims, Huffington uses the definitions of eulogy and examples of both successful and ordinary people in her article. These methods give the readers, which are every ordinary people, especially who are seeking for their purposes of life, a better idea of how they should live their lives in a meaningful way. I believe people should spend their lives for their happiness and relationships with others around them, rather than spending too much time worrying about money or fame, because soon they will be worthless.
