Argument for Hunting Rights
Fred Bear said “ That if you are not working to protect hunting, then you are working to destroy it” (14 aug. 2017). Hunting has been one of the fastest growing sports in the United States. Predators have been a big problem for the ranching and hunting communities. That is because predators are killing animals, including domesticated animals, simply for the joy of killing. Hunting has been one of the ways that people get the meat that they eat. Hunting should not be outlawed because it helps with controlling the population of the animals, provides information on what the predators are doing to the animal population and how to keep predators controlled, and provides food for families to live on. They can not do that, they have many strict laws to follow. They have to go through Hunter’s Education class to be able to purchase a hunting license. Hunters have to take a special test at the end of Hunter’s Education and the test asks questions about how to fire a rifle, how to identify game, how to hunt safely and other laws about hunting. The test is there to make sure hunters can follow the rules. If a hunter breaks the law they can be fined or end up in jail. A hunter can break the law in many ways. It has the hunters name and the date you harvested the animal. The tags are a way the researchers know how many animals were harvested that year. The money from the tags go to many different thing from: money to stop poaching, conservation, and even buy land to hunt and enjoy the wildness. Many hunters will pay more money to hunt in special authorized or controlled hunts that allow them to hunt early season or late season. Hunting can be a year around sport depending on the animal you are choosing to hunt. Big game hunting season includes elk, deer, wolf, black bear and mountain lion.Controlled hunts include elk, deer, moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goat and pronghorn. Migratory bird hunts, which is waterfowl, includes ducks, geese, dove and sandhill crane. Then there is the upland bird hunting which includes grouse, partridge,quail, pheasant and wild turkey.(Idaho fish and game, 2017) The money from all hunts goes towards ways to help the population of the animals.
