Can Solar Really Replace Coal?
People all around the world have been using coal as a source of energy for decades. According to a report published in Forbs, some of the sources used for power production are- Oil (36 quads), natural gas (26 quads), coal (19 quads), hydropower (2.6 quads) and biomass (2.7 quads). It is considered as one of the best sources of energy, but opinion of developed countries about coal have changed in last few years. The main reason is but the global warming. Although most of the organizations use coal as a one stop solution for energy needs, but they know one fact pretty well that energy production through coal leads to emission of harmful gases like carbon dioxide. Due to the environmental concern, the government of USA has asked the organizations to reduce the stack of coal from energy production. It has resulted in termination of many new coal power plant contracts while some of the major existing power plants that use coal are expected to get closed in some time.

The main reason is the usage of air-conditioners in offices and houses. It puts extra pressure on electricity grids to meet the demand. The two resources that the companies look forward to in such crucial times are oil and natural gas. Although the running cost of such plants is not as high as other plants, but still the government can't rely on both of these resources for a long time. Like any other source, both of these resource will also end one day; hence, the only other option which is available in front of the government is but the solar energy.
