I will be examining dual vital sources of electricity generation. Coal and Nuclear power, these sources are better for human sustainability and it help the environment in separate ways. Impressive report identifies the fluctuation of pollution over time with the use of the coal and nuclear power plants.
Introduction:
Coal is an abundant normal resource that can be used as a source of energy, as a chemical feedstock from which numerous synthetic compounds (e.g., dyes, oils, waxes, pharmaceuticals, and pesticides) may be derived, and in the production of coke for metallurgical processes. Coal is a major source of energy in the production of electrical power using steam generation ( (Kopp, 2017). Nuclear power, the use of sustained nuclear fission to generate heat and electricity, contributes nearly 20 percent of the electricity generated in America. Atomic power remains an important part of our nation’s energy portfolio, as we strive to reduce carbon emissions and address the threat of …show more content…

They occur in such trace amounts in natural, or "whole," coal that they aren't a problem. But when coal is burned into fly ash, uranium and thorium are concentrated at up to 10 times their original levels.
Fly ash uranium sometimes leaches into the soil and water surrounding a coal plant, affecting cropland and, in turn, food. People living within a "stack shadow"—the area within a half- to one-mile (0.8- to 1.6-kilometer) radius of a coal plant's smokestacks—might then ingest lesser amounts of radiation. Fly ash is also disposed of in landfills and abandoned mines and quarries, posing a potential risk to people living around those
