Every day, the United States spends millions of dollars and man-hours attempting to mitigate the effects of “rocket man”, terrorists, and co2 levels but not once do we consider the war that is happening within our borders. Every day another person dies of cancer. Everyday we attempt to cure the disease we do not seem to understand. Everyday we fail. Cancer is not only a disease that affects the life of the person directly impacted, but also the lives of everyone around them. It breaks away at a person until all that’s left is a husk of the person behind the facade. Such is the case with my friend, who after a few weeks after summer vacation, become despondent and hopeless for a better future. This continued for several months until it became a part of him. I had changed his identity. A man who once strived to solve climate change and advocated for world peace struggled to go to school everyday. Cancer had not taken his life but it appeared to have taken more. The words death and cancer seem to come together as if they are a pair that society deems inseparable s like as bread and butter. Cancer must be stopped at its roots, the very principle that allow cancer to exist in the world must be terminated. Be that as it may, cells have been fighting cancer on their own for billions of years. Ever since life became multicellular, the threat of genetic mutations that cause cancer has been present. This lead to the formation of RNA, one of the functions of which was to activate hidden mechanism that prompt the cell to commit suicide. This is the face of technology that we must present to the future to create a solution that not only provides personal solutions but also a long term goal. But the first step is not action, but rhetoric. Only by thinking about the problem better can be truly achieve a world in which cancer is not death, but rather nothing more than the common
