According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, everyday nearly ninety three Americans are shot and killed by guns. Statistically, this means that more than thirty three thousand Americans are killed every year by guns alone. The reason for this violent situations is because gun laws are not thorough enough and allow criminals to acquire weapons with minimum effort. This is because the Second Amendment of the Constitution contradicts many gun laws that are trying to be passed. Increasing gun control will not reduce crime.
Creating gun laws can be quite difficult to make and pass. This is because it can easily be contradicted by the Constitution. The Second Amendment states ¨A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.¨(Legal Information Institute). Whenever a law is trying to be developed that remotely emits gun control, citizens are quick to express their constitutional rights to bear arms. …show more content…

One of the two major debates insist that the quote from the Second Amendment, ¨the right of the people to keep and bear arms¨ means citizens have the individual right no matter the laws, to own a firearm. This is popularized as the ¨Individual Right Theory.¨ (Legal Information Institute). The other major debate believes the quote from the amendment ¨a well regulated Militia¨ interprets the individual citizens do not own the right to possess guns but local, state, and and governed legislative bodies carry the authority to control firearms without breaking any constitutional rights.
