Gun control is and will be beneficial to America’s security and safety. The US has been seen to be drastically more unsafe than other countries with stronger gun laws. “Gun violence is a crisis. 117,000 Americans are shot every year, a rate that outpaces our peer by order of magnitude” (Gun Laws Matter).
The Bill of Rights was put into place to protect the people from their own government. Jefferson said that a new generation of citizens needed a new set of laws, but that does not necessarily mean we should scratch the Bill of Rights. We must remember that it was put into place for a reason. For instance, the First Amendment has and should remain unchanged. The right to freedom of speech and religion is part of our national identity and is one of the most powerful and effective ways of speaking out against injustices.
When the topic of Gun Control is debated, it can go either coarse. All throughout history in America guns have been used against the people, and on the other hand, they have been used for the good of the people. Our country is based on the ideology that “Someone or something is good until proven to be otherwise.” There should be stricter gun control laws because: it prevents mass shootings, reduces gun deaths including self-harm/ domestic violence and it’s also been an effective control in other countries.
My initial reasoning on passing gun control laws would reduce gun deaths in America. In 1999, we witnessed columbine. Since then, America has not enforced strict gun control laws. As a result, we had school or mass shooting in America almost every year since columbine. The fact we had Fort Gibson, Flint Michigan, Lakewood Florida, Louisiana, and many more, just proves that there were no laws to pass gun control.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, everyday nearly ninety three Americans are shot and killed by guns. Statistically, this means that more than thirty three thousand Americans are killed every year by guns alone. The reason for this violent situations is because gun laws are not thorough enough and allow criminals to acquire weapons with minimum effort. This is because the Second Amendment of the Constitution contradicts many gun laws that are trying to be passed. Increasing gun control will not reduce crime.
The issue of gun rights and gun control has been brewing for many years, the issue started in early America when the Colonists were frustrated of how the British were treating the people. The colonists quickly took charge and established a government which created what is known as the Constitution. Out of twenty-seven Amendments the Second Amendment which is “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”, is the most talked about one in recent times. This topic is an extremely hot topic to talk about, because of all the damages people have done with such weaponry. For many years people have been in discussion about the Second Amendment and
Gun rights have been an issue in the United States for a very long time; especially recently with the amount of mass shootings in this country such as the one at Sandy Hook Elementary School and the many other examples which have brought America’s attention to gun control. Some people believe that guns, or in some cases, certain guns should be restricted or eliminated completely. However, the right of Americans to bear any sort of arms is not just a wild idea pulled out of the air, it is a constitutional right. There is a reason that gun control laws and weapon restrictions have not worked in the past, they are wildly unnecessary. This is because assault weapons are not the weapons being used in a majority of shootings, mass killers do not
Have you ever wondered if there is a way to end pain in the United States? Many people blame much of this pain and violence on the lack of strong gun control regulations in the United States. This has lead to the debate of whether enacting stronger gun control laws would help to solve the problem of gun violence. The United States should not put into place more severe gun control laws because they are ineffective and won’t make the US safer. There are many examples in the US where gun control hasn’t prevented gun violence.
Gun control has been a heated debate for several decades, recently, the discussion surrounding this matter has intensified. The argument seems to be divided into liberal and conservative views, thoughts, and values. A majority of liberals desire stricter gun laws, required mental health check-ups, and longer waiting periods when it comes to purchasing a gun. However, the general census among the Republicans is less governmental interference because they feel that there is already too much governmental control involved. The Republican Party often does not want stricter gun laws because the problem at hand is not the gun itself, but the individual wielding the gun.
If the laws were changed it would leave millions of people with out protection. It would make it easier for the criminals who own guns illegally to break into homes with out a fear of the homeowner from protecting themselves. Yes the cops are there for protection but here response time isn't fast enough, you/ your family could be harmed before they arrived. Having guns can put fear in criminals, because they know of a possibility of something bad happening.
This is wrong how our government allows gun laws to slide by just because the constitution gives us the right to bear arms. Has anyone ever considered revising this outdated list of rights given to the citizens of the United States? Gun control laws would reduce the societal costs associated with gun violence. Shootings in the United States have turned into an expensive illicit relationship. From the cost of medical care, investigations, and in many cases death.
Gun Control Lately people have been using guns in a negative way and causing a bad effect on the world. People have been using guns inapropriatly and have been performing mass killings. If guns are being used by people then the people using them should know how to use them correctly, or not being a crazy lunatic. When I was 12 I was playing with a pistol and accidentally shot it, I wasn’t hurt and no one else was hurt but somebody could have been injured badly. Gun laws are the cause to a lot of the violent crimes in the united states and laws need to be changed so people can’t purchase guns as easily that way we aren’t in as much trouble.
Gun Control On February 14, 2018 seventeen innocent people were shot and killed at a school in Parkland Florida. The shooter being over the age of eighteen, legally purchased the gun that caused this massacre, back in February of 2017. The federal law states, anyone with a clean criminal record over the age of eighteen can legally purchase a gun. This brings people to wonder, is our gun control enough?
Gun Control Gun control has become a polarizing and controversial issue around the globe. There have been many reported issues of mass shootings both in schools and in the public, making it a hot button issue. Proponents argue that, if the government strictly controls the ownership of guns, such tragedies can be prevented. Most Americans have an obsession with guns because the law allows them to do so. Therefore, they are always ready to scoff at anyone trying to control gun ownership.
While those in favor of gun control work hard to push their agenda, it is clear that America has far more citizens who favor gun rights over gun control. In order to get what they want, control supporters are going to need to get a big jump on gun supporters for house seats. Some of the control supporters have even begun to turn their head and give up on their arguments. The ones who were once completely against guns, have now begun to say that “there is a time and place for everything” (Elliot and Frizell, The New Politics of Gun Control). The motto in New Hampshire is “Live Free or Die”.
