Gun control can be a very divisive topic. There are Americans who are asking if Gun Control will likely reduce the risk of being a victim of a crime? Yes, it will. One of the main reasons that numbers associated with gun violence are so high is because guns are falling into the hands of people who should not have them. If there is any solution to reducing gun violence we must pursue it. When the topic of Gun Control is debated, it can go either coarse. All throughout history in America guns have been used against the people, and on the other hand, they have been used for the good of the people. Our country is based on the ideology that “Someone or something is good until proven to be otherwise.” There should be stricter gun control laws because: it prevents mass shootings, reduces gun deaths including self-harm/ domestic violence and it’s also been an effective control in other countries. To be a legal gun owner in Australia, the individual must have a Firearms License from state governments which must be renewed every year and the gun owner needs to have a genuine reason for example, hunting or target shooting.
