Society has witnessed a significant amount of gun related crimes within the past decades. The number of shootings in the United States has alarmingly increased recently, especially in public places and institutions. These kinds of circumstances have sparked widespread panic, fear, and concern among communities. In the United States, officials struggle to find solutions to gun issues. Conversations revolving around the right to bear arms and gun control have only intensified due to this. Proponents of the idea that citizens without criminal records should be allowed to carry concealed weapons argue that it strengthens public safety and may reduce gun related violence completely. Access to a gun is sometimes the last piece of a person’s puzzle when wishing to do harm, but that is not all. “Furthermore, gun ownership is associated with an increased risk of serious injuries, accidental death, and death from suicide. The evidence on the effectiveness of gun control measures has not been encouraging, partly because the influential gun lobby has successfully prevented the introduction of more effective measures” (Stroebe, 2012). Accidental deaths caused by guns also raise great concern within communities. Homes that have easily accessible firearms are more likely to have children injured or killed while messing with the weapon. As well as causing suicidal people to fight less to live and using a gun as a quick way to leave. With more people carrying guns, the chance of there being incidents involving these guns rises proportionally. Allowing clean record citizens to carry concealed weapons does not mean that these people still don’t have the chance to become criminals. Particularly when it comes to big crowd events or secure places like the airport, there will likely be more risks involving the security of these places. This may be true, but by creating laws that make guns more accessible to a wider range of people, the opportunity for dangerous people to enact their ideas increases. Its something that anti-gun law citizens tend to forget. Criminals are nothing without a means to their plans. These laws and regulations give them a means to their end. A lot of criminals who have committed mass murders or crimes via gun have committed suicide shortly after. These people need and deserve access to mental health resources. Officials should be more focused on that than increasing the amount of available
