Hidden Cancer Cure
For centuries, the world has chased the cure for cancer and according to pharmaceutical companies, has had no luck in doing so. The disease has taken the lives of millions of people and has caused worldwide panic. However, recently there has been speculations on whether or not pharmaceutical companies actually want a cure for cancer. There is a significant amount of data that supports that big pharmaceutical companies—or Big Pharma-- have gone to lengths to sabotage and suppress known cures and further studies of other potential cures. However, the fact remains that the government and pharmaceutical companies need to do what is right for the population, rather than do what is right for their pockets.

DCA is a drug that has the ability to kill “cancer cells by disrupting the way they metabolize sugar, causing them to self-destruct without adversely affecting normal tissues” (“Is Big Pharma...”) that was discovered by a scientist named Evangelos Michelakis in 2007. DCA has been able to prolong the lives of 4 out of 5 of its patients and is highly controversial due to the statements that were made by its founder. “DCA really is like the sun: It's a cheap, widely used chemical that no one can own”- Evangelos Michelakis (“Is Big Pharma…”). This statement means that much like natural substances, DCA cannot be patented due to its easy accessibility. Because of this, the pharmaceutical industries are not showing interested in this study due to its lack of financial gain. In addition, the pharmaceutical industries also do not risk a financial loss in studying and experimenting with the drug. In fact, the drug will take 10 years of testing with a total cost averaging five hundred million dollars that is not promised to be made back. It seems as if the pharmaceutical industry is not trying to prevent or suppress the research on DCA, they are just simply ignoring and not helping it. However, with the way cancer is going right now, the pharmaceutical industry should not worry so much on financial loss, but on finally ending the rule the disease has on the
