Although it is clear that so many U.S. citizens are suffering, the government has little to no efforts in decreasing the homeless population. The lack of initiative for the betterment of the homeless prevents them from becoming richer because their resources are extremely limited. Furthermore, it is more difficult for a homeless child to receive and education than it is for a child raised in a wealthy family. Almost everyone has seen a man or woman begging for money at the corner of a highway intersection. A sign usually reads “homeless, need food,” but what brings so many of these people to the corner of a street is quite a controversial topic. Middle-class citizens may lose their job and their home. Similarly, a hardworking citizen may lose his or her apartment due to a new owner who enforces a higher rent. Homelessness can affect anyone, even the middle-class, without the need for drugs and alcohol.
Have you ever thought about what it’s like to be homeless? Well… I got the answer for you. Being homeless is a very sad and unfortunate thing. When people are homeless there are a lot of reasons for being homeless. But there are a lot of nice, kind people in the world who donate their money, food, and clothing to the homeless people charities around the world.
The sense of unexpected adventure and little responsibility is enticing. Homeless people do not partake in taxes or jobs. Some people may not know that being homeless is a unhealthy lifestyle, due to how they were raised. Other homeless people enjoy the sympathy and attention they are given.
People become homeless for number of reasons such as job loss, gambling, debt, relationship ends and substance abuse. The community can help in multiple ways. They can help by doing fundraisers to help make shelters, donating items, and even by giving them respect. Everyone should receive respect because everyone is human and they should receive it without asking for it. Shelters would be a wonderful decision because the homeless will have a place to stay warm and have a place that gives them the necessities they need. If the community doesn’t have money to build shelter they can always do donation and donate clothes, blankets, toys, and even hygiene items to help them out.
There are about 47 million people traveling throughout the day with nothing to their name, carrying all of their bags everywhere they go and especially not knowing where and when their next meal will be. This is not a lifestyle that is chosen. Some of these people are simply victims of bad luck over and over again which has lead them to be poor. Homeless people in America are people who do not have a place to spend time with their family, a place to enjoy holidays, a place to eat and sleep.
Homeless is not a word that just fits one type of person. From people living on street corners to people living with multiple different family members, all of these people are all considered homeless. Out of the millions of people living on the street around America, there are 1.6 million teenagers who have been disowned or ran away and are now in a position where they must provide for themselves, find a place to live and earn a living. Many of theses teenagers have been forced on the street for choices they have made that caused their parents or guardians to withdraw support and love from them leaving them with the choice to live in a home of neglect or abuse or runaway. Providing for themselves at a young age can cause many problems and make teenagers turn to a variety of unreliable sources and substances to help them survive these mentally and physically draining times.
Once a week, at night, one will come in at work. Someone that is homeless, and has a mental illness or a disability. We may have to call security to have them come remove this person from our store, or we just ask for them to leave. They do not always fully leave, though. I have had multiple occasions where this happens at work.
People that are homeless or become homeless today, experience so much they are not sure what to do because they think they do not have help from anyone or somewhere to sleep. Adults are not the only people that become homeless, teenagers become homeless as well because before they turn 18 some will run away from home at least one time. While these people are sitting on the street, they experience numerous things such as abuse from other people, drugs, unemployment or not able to find a job, etc. Everyday when people drive or walk by someone thats is homeless, glancing at their sign reading what it says to make them feel sad for them. However, by doing something small for them makes an impact in someone else’s eyes.
People should not just give the homeless the silent treatment and keep on walking like nothing is wrong. In order for the homeless problem to stop, we “the people” must make it end by helping the less fortunate get to shelters or to some other source of help. The major problems of homelessness
