Immigration is a controversial topic currently in the United States, specifically illegal immigration is viewed negatively, although considering the immigration process it would be unlikely if someone couldn't afford the cost of the U.S. application and doesn't have adequate English skills. Some people resort to illegal immigration for personal reasons and are viewed as criminals and job stealers although immigrants improve economy and lead to a better educated workforce, greater occupation specialization and higher overall productivity. 5% of noncitizens are in state and federal prisons, Immigrants have created more jobs since 51% of 87 privately held companies valued at $1 billion are owned or co- founded by immigrants.
