“We are a nation of immigrants, and that means that we’re constantly being replenished with strivers who believe in the American Dream. And it gives us a tremendous advantage over other nations,” said Barack Obama. There are an innumerable amount of nativists who believe immigration will harm and could have the possibility to ruin the United States economy. Immigration reform would be beneficial to the United States, as the economy will be able to increase and the federal deficit will shrink, along with providing safety to citizens and communities.

Many also think immigrants tie in with terrorists, and do not want any part of it. Not only will our economy, as said previously, boost, but our law enforcement would become stronger. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will be strengthening their border security. DHS will try and adjust to the Southern Border Approaches Champion Strategies to change the way on how they guide and pay attention to people entering America.(Homeland) The idea behind the new plan what new plan is to get DHS to update update what with the new immigration laws and still be able to catch the illegal entrance of immigrants by sea, land, or air.
DHS is planning on upgrading from the Secure Communities program and replacing it with Priority Enforcement Program (PEP)(Remarkable). this doesn't even make sense PEP will based off of the fingerprint allowing it to send biometric data to state and law enforcements and provide the specific criteria needed when is in custody. Also DHS is planning on giving more power to Immigration and Customs Enforcement(ICE), where they are allowed to arrest, detain, or remove the individual if viewed to be a threat to national or border security or most important public
