Originally, in days preceding the Industrial Revolution, dairy products such as butter, cheese, and milk used to be made by women over in rural Europe. However, the increase in urban markets throughout led to the creation of industrial creameries, which could supply more dairy products at a higher demand(source 1). The first creameries rose in the 1800s in Ireland and were privately owned and usually smaller scale compared to modern day. (source 2). Their apparent success made them a popular commodity throughout the world and they eventually spread to the United States.
If school systems can create ways to care for future school shooters through prevention, guns will become hunting stools and last resort protection rather than weapons of
So with all these kids dying wouldn't you agree that we need better mental health support, so we can prevent all these shootings? I believe that if we had good and strong mental health support services in the USA then tragic events like Columbine H.S. & Sandy Hook would probably never happen. That is why I am supporting for the USA to talk more about how to create more mental health support programs to help prevent gun violence events. A human thrives off of attention, even the shy introvert begs for it. Most Americans and people around the world watch other people make history and become infamous for acts of courage and acts of deceit. Whether a person goes down in infamy or goes down with tremendous honor, this person has altered history forever. In reality the world has heroes and villains, and these real life villains thrive for heed. The increase in mass shootings starts with the shooter’s addiction to fame and the chance of becoming notorious for their dishonorable deed.
Over the last decade mass shootings have become more likely and a much larger issue than ever before. Mass shootings have been on the rise whether they occur in schools or out in public places like movies or malls. But why have the number of mass shootings recently increased ? President Donald Trump stated in an interview that one of the biggest reasons these massacres are happening is because of the negative influence that video games, movies, and media is leaving on young adults. Trump's idea was to incorporate a new and improved rating system for video games and movies.
What is the worst thing you ever done? Perhaps it yell at your mom, or maybe steal a candy bar form the the store. How did you feel after the fact? Guilty, or regret? Well unlike normal people, nicholas cruz gets his kicks from killing 17 inconnect students of Stoneman Douglas High School.
The Vicious Cycle School Shootings Create As school shootings are on the rise, so are students’ fear all across the nation. “According to Everytown for Gun Safety, there have been at least 149 school shootings since 2013, 52 this year alone” (Board). This shows that school shootings have become more prevalent over the years. Violent people who feel depressed, attacked, or alone, may become school shooters. While some feel these may be the causes, others think that accessibility to guns is the number one factor in these attacks.
A mass school shooting in America will only be defined as a mass shooting, by the government, if three criteria are met. These being if four or more people are killed in the incident, the attack must take place in a public area (schools in this case) and if the shooter had chosen his victims at random (CNN-1). From the years of 1966 to 2012, it has been seen that close to a third of the world’s mass shootings happened in America (CNN-1). In 2017 there were 10 mass shootings between January the first and November the first (CNN-1). There are enough weapons, according to a report done in 2007 by the Switzerland-based Small arms survey, that there are enough guns to arm every adult in America and still have guns left over (CNN-1).
A problem has been reoccurring, a problem that seems to have no resolution. The crisis on mass shootings throughout United States have been repeatedly mention into the topic of gun and ammunition restrictions. Due to this, the government proposed whether if background checks should be enforced while purchasing ammunition and prohibit the possession of large capacity. This proposal has made many citizens of the United States upset since it might lead to the ban on all guns, which would violate the the second amendment. Although citizens are angry with the restrictions on guns, the government should require background checks because it would gradually decrease the crime rate, strengthen the background check system, and reduce mass shootings.
Over the years, school safety has become more of an issue in the United States. Many have argued over the possible solutions for school safety. But through all the others, the only feasible solution is the use of metal detectors. Metal detectors have been known to increase safety when placed in an area that could be threatened. Metal detectors can protect schools from violence, especially from school shootings.
When it comes to school shootings many people ask who or what is to blame. Common answers include bullies or bullying, mental illnesses, the parents, the shooter, lack of gun control and/or video games. Now when video games are listed as a cause of school shootings some responses I’ve heard are, “well, explain all the school shootings before the 1970’s”, and “we need to regulate video games as they are causing violent behavior and making children dumber”. Additional comments are “the parents are to blame, because they didn’t give enough attention to their child”, or “if we put god and prayer back into schools, and use god and prayer to replace video games. we would not have to worry about school shootings”.
After the devastating school shootings that have taken place across the United States people have began to look towards guns as the main cause. One solution being considered is to arm staff members in school, mainly teachers, to protect their classrooms from deadly acts of violence. Different sources depict this information in their own ways, be it factual or sensational. Three articles that depict factual information of arming teachers are: The New York Times (About 3 in 4 Teachers Oppose Arming School Staff, Survey Find), The Washington Post (Schools don’t need guns because ‘it’s mostly ladies that’s teaching’ Alabama lawmaker says, and Time (Black Children Will Be the Victims of Armed Teachers). These three sources are all credible and non-manipulative with the information given as they are all opposed to having firearms in schools.
The second amendment of 1789 states that all civilians of the United States of America have their constitutional right to bare arms. Now, two centuries later, we have started to finally ride into a major problem regarding this constitutional amendment, what if people use this right for their own wrong will? Mass shootings in the past two decades have grown increasingly popular occasions throughout the world. It just takes one bad apple among the group to cause a multitude of deaths, usually based on mental illness or influence by the media. This not only creates a predicament of how we can stop or reduce these acts, but how we can find the source of them.
A Potential End to School Shootings It is no surprise that school shootings have grown in number over the years, and it is just now become a main priority of the people to find a solution. School shootings are almost expected by the American people and it should never be that way. In a news article the amount of school shooting was put into perspective through this statistic: “We're only 12 weeks into 2018, and there have already been 17 school shootings where someone was hurt or killed.
Students today live their day-to-day lives in constant fear of what seems inevitable. The United States has one of the highests rates of school shootings in the world. Society has become so desensitized to these shootings that they are no longer shocked to hear about another school falling victim to it. Even when students take a stand against gun violence, the only solution offered to them is a proposition to arm teachers. However, bringing more guns into a school will only further deteriorate the situation.
