In some cases, these institutions of higher learning are part of a state university system, while in the other cases they are not. Most of the student who come from minority and low income households face barriers to access to college education because of cost for college is not affordable for them. As a result, it creates a huge gap between students from low- income families and their high- income peers to access to the higher education and on their educational achievement.
Having free tuition for college means that more people who cannot afford it now, would end up going. This is a good thing in terms that more people are getting a good education and continuing their educational careers to hopefully obtain good job, but it also decrease the value of a college education.
