State College Should be Free for All In the United States, a State college is one of the public colleges funded by or associated with the state government. In some cases, these institutions of higher learning are part of a state university system, while in the other cases they are not. Most of the student who come from minority and low income households face barriers to access to college education because of cost for college is not affordable for them. As a result, it creates a huge gap between students from low- income families and their high- income peers to access to the higher education and on their educational achievement.
Having free tuition for college means that more people who cannot afford it now, would end up going. This is a good thing in terms that more people are getting a good education and continuing their educational careers to hopefully obtain good job, but it also decrease the value of a college education. So, if you believe that college should not be free because this would make students irresponsible and they would fool around as they do in high school and this is wrong. Because when college tuition becomes free there will be rules to make sure that the students work hard and take it seriously and handle the responsibilities. When one government allows students to attend at the college for free, the benefit is good for both of them because when they are educated in their community that will get a lot of business minded students, such as doctors and teachers. However, when students cannot go to college because of the high tuition, they will engage in crimes, drugs, and many young teenage girls will get pregnant because they are not smart enough to handle their lives. I think they should because there are some people that want to go to college but can’t afford it, most of today's jobs are knowledge-based or either requires technical skills, and there would be a private and public benefit if there were more people that went to college. Many of America's top-performing high school students never apply to colleges and universities because even though they know they can succeed them can’t afford it because they often come from low-income households, which I find unfair that kids from lower income families don’t get the opportunity to go to college just because it is so expensive. This causes them to choose to purse more affordable, less-selective schools instead. This problem helps create a gap between wealthier families and those that aren’t as wealthy.
