First, I think that college football players should get paid because they need extra money today for college. For the first time in history, the NCAA is allowing colleges to pay their athletes cash to cover the cost of things like student fees, laundry and lunch (Cnn). To open enroll in a college out of state it is $22,958 and getting paid for any kind of sport could really help pay the cost (Prepscholar).
Are they students or employees? They spend more time with the sport than in school. Student athletes should be acknowledged for their performances. College athletes should be paid to play because they bring money into the school, advertisement, and they perform the same tasks of pros. College kids bring in thousands of dollars every game day.

Yea they might get paid in free education but you got to look on the other side how are they to support they self for personal needs like tooth paste, cloths, shoes, soap, and many more. The NCAA has been around for more than a 100 years. They have developed and added rules to make it safer for athletes to compete over the years. NCAA uses sanctions to control school programs and their players. Academic sanctions cause schools to go deep into their players grades and eligibility with some school changing grades, causing some college athletes ineligible to play. Moreover, college sports have drug testing, which allows players that use drugs, even for medication not allowed to play and ruled ineligible.
Getting paid in college would help teach these players some responsibility before they are rewarded a big NFL/NBA contract. Players could make just enough money to be forced to make choices that can pave the way for more responsible decision making when the financial stakes become high. Many players will learn the value of money and the responsibility that comes from holding down a job. Another reason why college players should be getting paid is that that the NCAA organization are treating the players like workers. These competitors are playing games and getting cash to the college consistently, yet aren't getting any money themselves. These competitors are working for the schools and are doing a support of the school that appears to go unnoticed. This absence of pay is not seen anyplace else in the work put and shouldn't be seen here.
