Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, Bob Marley, Seth Rogan, a child with cancer in chemotherapy, an AIDS patient, a veteran with PTSD, and somebody with glaucoma. What do they all have in common? You guessed it, they all use marijuana in one way or another. The debate on marijuana, both recreational and medical marijuana is ongoing and very controversial. There are arguably many more benefits when it comes to both medical and recreational use of marijuana than there are downsides to its use. Especially when it comes to medical marijuana, there are little to no downsides. Many of those incarcerated in our country’s prisons are being held for possession and distribution of a flower; a florist, if you will. Medical and recreational marijuana should be legalized due to their abundance of benefits towards their users and prisoners incarcerated for possession and distribution should be released with this legalization. The use of legal over-the-counter drugs can be addictive and lethal. These are two things marijuana cannot be. There are multiple uses for marijuana and medical is one of them.
