George Washington / President #1 / Served 1789 through 1797 / NO PARTY Background: Even before being elected the first president of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention in 1787, Washington held a large role in America’s early history. With particular interest in the military and colonial expansion as a young man, Washington acted as a land surveyor in the state of Virginia, served as a prominent military leader in the French and Indian War, and was an outspoken member of the Virginia House of Burgesses. During the Revolutionary War, Washington served as the Commander in Chief of the Continental Army, elected by his fellow delegates of the Second Continental Congress in May of 1775. He was able to lead the colonists
While the Federalists believe in rule by wealthy class, the Democratic-Republicans supported in rule by the common people. Both Federalists and Democratic-Republicans disregarded the idea of a monarchy. When the Constitution was created, and during the Constitutional Convention, the concept of a monarchy was requested by neither Federalists or Democratic-Republicans. Both of the creators of the 2 parties attended the Constitutional Convention, and they were considered part of the Founding Fathers. While there were many disagreements at the Constitutional Convention, the idea of a monarchy was not desired by any of the intelligent men at the convention.
In life some feel the need to prove something to others. That they are better, stronger, or even more intelligent. Whatever the case may be people will go through extreme measures to prove themselves. But who do we really need to prove anything to? Is it our parents?
1. The Republican effort to write a once-in-a-generation bill to cut taxes appears to be the last, best hope for the fractured party to find some common ground. But it’s also “bit like having a baby to save a failing marriage,” our reporters have concluded. Tensions abound, including over sharp reductions in how much Americans may save in 401(k) accounts.
Hillary Clinton would have won the election based on the popular votes. From the 2016 US election results, Hilary has 574,064 votes more than Donald Trump. The Electoral College votes can be an unfair advantage due to some of the states having small numbers of electoral votes. Donald Trump conquered states, like Alaska, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming with 3 electoral votes and much more that have less than 10 electoral votes. This situation has happened 4 times in elections, such as during the year 2000, Al Gore had half a million popular votes than George W. Bush, but he lost due to electoral votes.
The third Republican Debate is now in the books, after the top 10 leading GOP candidates debated for more than two hours. There are now less than 100 days until the first ballots are cast. This debate was a very important for many of the candidates campaigns because they are now approaching the “make-or-break point” of their campaigns (Diamond). Only a few candidates rose to the occasion and gave a strong performance that could boost their standings in the polls. Other candidates did not leave very happy from the debate.
I really enjoyed this video because ever since I grasped the idea of the Electoral College I have disagreed with it. However, I never really did any research revolving what goes on behind closed doors. The premises most definitely lead to the conclusion without any additional points. We see that the Electoral College ruins democracy because citizens of smaller states have a louder, more important voice than their larger neighboring states. This means that the votes of the larger states will, in a sense, be ignored also like the wants, and needs of people in set states.
As a registered republican voter, I feel it is important to write and share my opinion and observations of the recent republican primaries and the recent republican convention. For the first time in my 33 years voting as a republican, this is the first time I have been ashamed and embarrassed to admit my party affiliation, nor have I felt this level of disgust for the Republican Party, particularly what I would refer to as the Establishment, or the current republican congressmen currently in office. At a time when our county needs courageous leadership more than ever, the Republican establishment quickly demonstrated they are not prepared or even equipped to lead this country. The actions of the republican establishment during the recent
I am but a humble farmer from rural Virginia and I do not wish to spout ideas and sling political jargon as the bankers and lawyers of the North do about the state of our constitution. Instead I am making my appeal to the people of this new nation, imploring them to think about the good of the whole country rather than just the large cities. It is my belief that limited government is the best government.
Impeachment is a very precisely defined term in the constitution that is very vaguely backed up. Although it is clear what the levy of impeachment imposes, the standards in which one can be charged against are not very clear. This is why the 1998 Clinton impeachment trial was one of the most controversial trials in our nation’s history. The House of Representatives voted faintly in favor of a trial of the impeachment of our 42nd president, Bill Clinton. Clinton was accused on multiple charged, perjury and the obstruction of administrative justice.
For the last 70 years, the majority of African-Americans voters have been more democrats than ever. "The African-American population is about 44.5million. Only 16.1 million voted in 2008", but “95% chose the democratic party”. More than one are unworthy because African-Americans turn their back to the Republicans, those who fought for them in the past. To change this and increase African Americans votes republican should change and/or make some of their policies more flexible that is it right now.
The federal tax system is plagued with issues: It doesn 't raise sufficient revenue to back government spending, it is unpredictable, it makes results that are unreasonable, and it impedes monetary productivity. This part examines a few approaches to enhance charges, including making an esteem included duty, expanding natural taxes, improving the corporate expense, treating low-and center pay workers evenhandedly and productively, and guaranteeing suitable tax collection of high-wage family units. A good tax system raises the incomes expected to fund government spending in a way that is as basic, evenhanded, and development well growth as could reasonably be expected. The United States does not have a good tax system.
I. Introduction Donald Trump: American Hero or Villain? For many Americans, Trump is seen as the long-awaited saviour of the nation. Others see him as the man to start World War III.
America is a big superpower, a force to be reckoned with, and a corporate country. America is built upon freedom and money just like anywhere else. But with the way I think that were going, that’s the only thing America will be in the future. And the American dollar will be worth less and less, and the economy will crash more and more. Like I said earlier America is a corporate country based upon cash.
Political parties serve countless roles in America’s government. Foremost, it needs to be said they are crucial to America’s political system. The political parties are the heart and brain of our government's body, urging people to conceive and feel different ways on different topics whether the controversy is over how money is distributed or the way immigrants should be treated or dealt with. With each party having a biased view it shows how a group can be increasingly powerful with bountiful amounts of support, names and divisions can be heard. Democrats are widely known to be liberal rather than conservative.
