Gun Laws There have been many cases of murder, robbery, and rape that could have been stopped if more places allowed carrying of guns. If carriers could take a gun to more places themselves there would be less crimes in those areas due to trained carriers being able to protect others. If the laws were to be greatly increased, fewer areas would allow carriers; giving criminals, who do not abide by gun laws and would acquire them illegally, more opportunities to commit crimes knowing the people are defenseless. With more, strict laws in place most people would be unable to get a gun to defend their homes and families, while criminals are still able to get guns through illegal activities.
Gun control has been a controversial issue for years and numerous solutions have been proposed and enacted. The debate sparked after tragic civilian attacks, like school shootings. An example, is the tragedy in 1999 at Columbine High School. Two teens attacked the school, killing 13 people and wounding more than 20 others before killing themselves. Following this attack, numerous solutions have been argued and purposed.

There needs to be stronger gun control throughout the United States, because the U.S. has weak gun laws, the background checks are ineffective, and too many mentally ill people are getting a hold of guns.

Concerns have been raised both by the public and our nation’s government about gun violence and creating more strict legislation. For this reason, smart gun technologies should not be incorporated into gun control legislation.

But a lot of people miss use the name AR-15 and lack a lot of basic knowledge on firearms such how to handle them and what the true meaning of having them is and last but certainly not least, what the second amendment means and why it was created in the first place.

If every american was able to obtain a firearm imagine what the numbers of gun related deaths. Even gun related injuries caused many more hospital visits in america what many other common incidents. That is why america needs to implement tighter gun laws to reduce the amount of gun violence in America. Without this we will continue to see shooting, gun death, gun injuries resulting in more and more gun related violence.
The Fight for Gun Rights In 2015, a man named Chris Harper-Mercer shot and killed eight of his fellow classmates, and injured nine others. All throughout his life Mercer had mental and emotional issues, yet in the aftermath of the massacre, people put more blame on the gun than on Mercer himself (Healy and Lovett). In the past few years gun laws have become more strict because people believe they are a danger to society. That, however, is not always true.
It was a regular school day and Mr. Guttenberg was sending his daughter Jamie off to school. Later that same evening, he finds out that his 14-year-old daughter had been shot and killed in a school shooting. (ABC News). This seems unreal to hear of kids being shot in a supposedly safe place. Though for many Americans, the unthinkable is a reality because of the rapid increase of gun violence in the U.S. Although U.S citizens have the right to own and carry guns, the U.S needs to have more extensive gun control laws in order to keep guns out of a criminals hands , as well as mentally ill people.

The shooter being over the age of eighteen, legally purchased the gun that caused this massacre, back in February of 2017. The federal law states, anyone with a clean criminal record over the age of eighteen can legally purchase a gun. This brings people to wonder, is our gun control enough?
