With many different movements in governmental action, the legalization of marijuana is a dispute that yet to this day has not been resolved. Though California is a leading contender in the pursuit to legalize marijuana, there are many barricades presented upon this issue of legalizing marijuana. California is a leading contender due to the act known as, the Compassionate Use Act of 1996 which is also known as prop 215. California being the leading state in the full legalization of marijuana is also supported by other states such as Nevada and New York. Marijuana should be fully legal throughout the 50 states both medically and recreationally. Marijuana should be fully legalized with no governmental restrictions because of revenue boost to the country, wider access for medicinal use, and can benefit states in many ways. Marijuana, being sold legally in Colorado and Washington brought large numbers of tax revenues. In Washington alone, Marijuana sales account for $70 Million of tax revenues for the state and local government, reported by the Associated Press.
