The South Beach Diet has made a huge impact on people trying to lose weight making it a very popular diet. The reason why I chose this diet is because it seemed very interesting that so many people kept talking about it online and many people I know have heard of it. I have also never heard of this diet before, and figured it had something to do with seafood because of its name. Personally being a seafood lover I had to check it out and take the opportunity to learn more about this diet and how it works. It sounded like a good diet from everything I have read about it so far, and it seems to have its pros and cons like every diet does. Dr. Arthur Agatston has claimed, “This diet was created to be a fast and healthy way to lose weight, while still being able to eat a delicious meals, and not having to count carbohydrates”, it seems like a very appealing diet with all these statements by Agatston. Some people may have trouble with this because they won’t know how many carbohydrates they are consuming if they aren’t counting carbs, on the other hand if they count their carbs it’s changes the whole ball game for them by keeping them on track to lose weight. The book called The South Beach Diet by Dr. Agatston offers steps to reach the weight loss many look for thought their life. There certain conditions an individual must have to start a diet and that determination will help with the phases this diet has to offer, the Mayo Clinic discusses, “The South Beach Diet has three phases over a two week period of trying to eliminate craving from foods that may contain sugar and by removing carbohydrates also adding a high protein consisting of mainly seafood”, adding exercise to this or any diet will only help to lose the weight for an added benefit.
