Summer Reading Assignment: Lord of the Flies As the world commemorates 25 years since the end of the Second World War, people all around the world recognize and condemn the atrocious activities that occurred, and offer their support to the victims of the genocide. However, there is one particular person who was not prey to the Holocaust or the horrific activities of the Nazis under the rule of Hitler; rather he is a survivor of a unique event occurring at the same time as World War 2. General Jack Merridew, now 37, is one of many boys stranded on an uncharted island without adults after a plane crash at the dawn of World War 2.
The boys were stranded on the island in hearing that a War is in the near future. “War is not the mere occasion of the novel, but rather the offstage protagonist in this drama of evil determining the behavior of the boys on the marooned island,” as said in Document C. What William Golding and many other soldiers had to experience is an awful and tragic thing. “World War II left an indelible impact on Golding,” Document D. War causes losses and family members and loved ones. The soldiers have to see and watch their fellow soldiers die or get wounded during combat which leaves scars on the inside and out forever.
Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding, was about a group kids, from Britain, who had gotten on a plane, and the plane was shot down. Before it had crashed though, the group of children jumped off and survived. It was good they survived but now they are trapped on an island. Together they must work as a team to survive until they can be rescued.
All children have a fear of something; spiders, snakes, even unknown monsters. In William Golding’s Lord of The Flies, a group of English boys are stranded on a deserted island with no adults. Being such young boys, they start to become afraid of a beast. But the big question is, what is the beast in Lord of The Flies? Is it the War that is happening when the boys plane crashed?

LOTF Informative Essay William Golding does an exceptional job at creating an allegorical novel, Lord of the Flies. According to Merriam- Webster Dictionary, an allegory is a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, usually a moral or political one.
When someone gets anything handed to them whether it be a new laptop or even a higher ranking job they don’t really know how it is earned so they care less. A person has to know the difficulties of earning a certain higher position, whether it be for their job or social standing. In the novel “Lord of the Flies” a group of kids crash land on a island surrounded by water with a goal of getting rescued. Two boys have been given power by others and one of the them was voted into power while the other simply made his own “government.” In this story power can be seen as violence or it can be seen as the savage level.
Children Come Together To Try To Survive “The faster you can signal for rescue, the faster you get out of that situation.” In the book, Lord of the Flies, the children were getting flown out of England to keep them safe from World War II and crashed on an island is the Pacific Ocean. They noticed that there was no adult on the island so they tried to make a society on there own. They boys tried but it was extremely difficult for the boys to comply with the rules and as the days wore on they struggled to follow them.

In “Lord of the Flies”, a plane is being shot at and all the passengers are dropped off at an unknown island and try to survive there long enough until the plane comes back for them. Unfortunately, the plane never comes back and the passengers end up separating into twp groups and trying to survive .One of the tribes is ruled by Ralph, who tries to keep a fire going for ships to see the smoke, so they can be rescured.
Every child comes into this world as a selfish, manipulative, cruel and stubborn being. It is the parents and society that teaches children how to function in a civilized world, and societal laws that keeps them under control. William Golding wrote this novel in the early years of the cold war and the atomic age. In William Golding's classic novel Lord of the Flies, Golding uses Jack, a young savage who looks to lead a group of stranded kids on an island with no food, no rules, and no adults. The effect freedom has on Jack has turned him into a savage because he does not have to listen to anyone since there are no adults on the island.

Ralph and the boys face the challenge of surviving all alone with no adults. The group splits due to disagreements, and Ralph ends up being hunted by Jack’s group. His hope is lost, but three boys give him the motivation he needs.
What makes someone human? Do we just act the way we do because of society? Or is it really within us? Well William Golding's had and idea and wrote a book called Lord Of The Flies due to his experience in war. During the time William Golding spent in war during World War II he was able to realize how the more people are away from society the less human they will become and the less they will value their morels.
In Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, the ending of the novel was ineffective on answering the many questions that plagued the readers’ minds such as, “What happened after their rescue, and were any of the children tried for murder?”. Not being told anything of the children's rescue or lives later in the years is quite frustrating to the readers who yearn for more understanding of the characters. We are also given no insight to the children's lives before they became stranded on the remote island. Simon’s death was brutal, yet the readers are told little to no detail about the consequences that the boys will be given when they arrive home. Golding provided little detail in the story about any characters, it seemed as if he was more interested
I am a strong believer that not everyone should go to college. There are many reason why I believe this, one of those reasons being that some people cannot pay the tuition costs. Another reason, is that most new college students are not ready for the responsibility or responsibilities of managing their own lives. The third reason is that, some new college students are just not cut out for college. I know that some people out there would say that there are programs that could help students pay for college and help with study for classes but those programs are not always available for all students.
