Millions of Americans receive government aid such as welfare every year. Of those Americans who are on welfare, many are unemployed. Some people may need welfare because they don’t make enough money to support their families. However, the amount of money spent on welfare every year is tremendous. Welfare should be taken away from those who don’t work. Some people on welfare may not physically be able to work because of disabilities. However, people with disabilities are already getting paid by the government. 4.6% of Americans are on workers’ disability. The money the federal government spends on welfare and food stamps combined is less than the amount they spend on disabled workers. The majority of these people getting paid for disabilities do not work (Joffe-Walt). The government already pays the disabled money whether they work or not, so they shouldn’t be receiving any more welfare money. Welfare is keeping some families alive. However, some people are not even working and are receiving money from the government to support their families. However, if people can’t support themselves they should wait on having children until they can support their children and themselves. “A startling 38 percent of all children 5 and under in the United States were welfare recipients in 2011 (Jeffrey).” These parents do not have the money to raise their children on their own so the parents are receiving money through the children to help raise them. Some people on welfare are having more and more kids so that they will receive more money from the government. The government should not keep giving people money every time they have a kid, or the government should put a limit on the amount of kids welfare recipients can
