Aristotle:
Aristotle was born in the year 384 BCE in Stagirus, in Macedonia. His father, Nichomachus, was a royal physician and his mother was Phaestis. Although Phaestis was known to be born in Chalcis in Euboea, there is not much other information supplied about what her job was. On the other hand, his father had travelled to the capital of Macedonia to serve the ruler of Macedonia at that time which was King Amyntas. Unfortunately, King Amyntas had died when Aristotle was just ten years old. At the age of eighteen, Aristotle’s life had changed. His carer, Proxeus sent Aristotle to Athens to have a better education. Aristotle was sent to study at the famous school, the Academy which was opened by Plato. This was request buy the current ruler at that time, King Phillip II. In 338 BCE, Aristotle began to teach to future ruler of Macedonia, the 13 year old Alexander the Great. At the age of 16, Alexander the Great had took over Macedonia. With Alexander’s permission, Aristotle was given permission to start his own school of learning. He called it the Lyceum. Normally Aristotle would teach his student while walking around the school grounds. Usually Aristotle would take some time off before teaching and it was not a regular pattern. Since Aristotle would usually teach while walking around the school grounds, his students were forced to follow him. The students were given the nickname ‘Perpatetics’ which translated meant people who travel. The ‘Perpatetics’ learnt lots of thing, ranging from math to science. They would write down their research which created lots of information, which helped to create one of the greatest libraries in the history of Ancient Greece.
Aristotle had many beliefs. He believed that the Nicomachean Ethics was wrong. It stated that people who had the largest amount of wealth, honour and the things that you want which you have, will bring you happiness. Aristotle believed that these laws were wrong.
