Arms Trading Have you ever wondered what the U.S. is doing to help with arms trading to rogue nations? The reason I picked this topic was because I’ve always wondered about arms trading and rogue nations. You should really listen to this speech because rogue nations getting weapons could affect you in the future. Today, I am going to try and persuade you that the U.S. should push the U.N. about restricting arms trading to rogue nations. I’ve learned that you can put sanctions down to try to help the situation. One thing you can do is try to put sanctions into place. The solutions can attempt to fix the problem because it can make it harder for other nations to get weapons of mass destruction. People can be a part of the solution by having human rights activists step up in effort to expose some rogue nations (Cook). We have been trying to solve this problem for many years. In 2001 from July 9 to the 21st the U.N. had the first global meeting on the trade of small arms and light weapons (Stohl). The sanctions they put into place were imposed under an executive order that let the U.S. punish foreign companies with dealing with North Korea. The U.S. put sanctions on North Korea shipping firms and Chinese trading companies to try to isolate North Kora over its nuclear weapons development. North Korea joined the U.S. blacklist what has Iran, Sudan and Syria on it too (Pennington). The U.N. called for a meeting to strengthen resolution 1540 of 2004. Its goal was to keep the no –state actors form getting nuclear, biological and chemical weapons (“Security
