Artemis is known for her seclusion, virginity, and her skill in hunting. The Greeks also learned, the hard way, to be wary of the Olympian, who is as fast as the wind (Artemis - Η Άρτεμη). The only thing they knew of her was that she was vindictive and cruel. Of course, they were not wrong, for there are no shortages of examples of Artemis’ brutality, but there was definitely more to this majestic goddess. She has some compassion but unfortunately it on ly extends to a few people. Artemis has a couple different stories as to how she was born, but most of them have the same concept. One of these stories goes that the jealous Hera cursed Leto, the mother:

Artemis then helped her mother to the island of Delos, where the curse did not reach and helped deliver her brother, Apollo, into the world (Leadbetter). Artemis did not hesitate to help her mother in her time of need because she was her family, and Artemis has a pretty big family. She has Apollo as a full brother but she also has Athena, Ares, Hermes, Dionysus, and Persephone as half brother and sisters just to name a few (ARTEMIS - Greek Goddess of Hunting & Wild Animals). Niobe was a mortal with fourteen kids, seven boys and seven girls. Niobe bragged to Leto, Artemis and Apollo’s mother, that she was superior because she had fourteen children while Leto only had two. Apollo heard this arrogance and angrily told his sister Artemis. They both agreed they had to defend their beloved mother’s honor, so they killed all of Niobe’s kids. Artemis shot the girls with poisoned arrows while Apollo killed the boys. This punishment is a little extreme but Artemis only did it out of the love of her mother. It might seem twisted and cruel but Artemis is loyal to those she loves and disregards anyone
