Cell Phone Vs School Policies Have you ever wish that school policies could change and cell phones are allowed in class for example, this random person came in class while touching his cell phone and his teacher ask for his phone. Do you think students should have their cell phone with them during class? Even in today’s time, students are still unable to touch their phone because of school policies, which will always said NO PHONE IN CLASS, but what if these rules were to bend a little bit that students are able to touch phone in class. It would be like paradise for students, because they would be able to listen to music while doing worksheet, taking picture of an project, and when there’s emergency at school.
Although students are aloud to have their phones in class they have to be turned off or put away. School districts should keep doing this because phones are a distraction during class and students shouldn’t be on them, students should be paying attention to their assignment / lesson / project and not be on social media or the internet, and students could be looking up answers for the assignment on the internet instead if they have their phone on them. Phones are a distraction during class as you read in the article titled ‘As School Lift Bans on Cell Phones, Educators Weigh on Pros and Cons’ “Bringing their own devices just becomes a source of distraction for some students, because no matter how many times you repeat the rule that they can only be on technology when the teacher says it’s ok, they choose to ignore the rule and then disciplinary actions have to be enforced.” Now the article says that phones become a source of distraction for some students. It also states that many students don’t listen to the teacher / school rules about phones and students still get on the phones.
Amongst schools throughout the nation, the cell phone policy has been tested and altered to fit the restrictions on their use by students. The different advancements in technology have influenced many teachers and staff to allow leniency to cell phone use in the classroom, with the belief that they have purpose to assist in everyday learning. Others believe they have no place being on school property during school hours since loss, theft, or damage is possible. In addition, cellphones can be a distraction in classrooms which factors in faculty deciding what is to be done about cellular devices on the campus. The use of cell phones should not be in schools because of the amount of distraction it poses on kids, cheating that becomes easier in classrooms because of them, and the safety concerns it raises.
Some also worry that allowing cell phones could intensify the gap between the haves and the have-nots.” This statement relates to the statement before except this time it talks about how parents are beginning to realize that cell phones are distracting their kids from learning. Phones shouldn’t be in the classroom because they can be very distracting even if they’re not on it, they are itching to touch it. Phones can be beneficial at times but not at all times. Kids might say it’s a personal issue but parents should understand that phones are not allowed in the classroom and just call the school and ask for their child. Parents calling their children in class is not just distracting to their child but the children around them and along with the teacher. When its its distracts the teacher and students the teacher has to penalize them for you doings and it may not have been the child’s faught.
The rivalry between students who believe they should be able to use their cell phones in class and teachers who believe them to be disrespectful has caused a ripple effect that now bleeds through many classrooms roaring its controversial head. And here we are stuck in an ongoing battle seldom won by students. The position that students should not be able to misuse their cell phones in a classroom setting is one held by the author of “Today 's Lesson: Life in the Classroom Before Cellphones” Louise Katz, who believes that “those halcyon days” were over (Katz). Likewise, Zoya Kahn, the author of “Why Cell Phones Do Not Belong In The Classroom” has a similar stance on the topic, Kahn states that “it is in everyone’s interest for instructors to
Most students with cell phones are not thinking about the value of their teachers and how they can benefit you so much but cell phones are not helping the students school work or listen. Students will get so unfocused they will not do their call work and their time on the phone will cut into the school work time and not get anything done. Most kids want to transport their phones to school. A common thing kids say is “ The teacher allows it though. ’’ Students and some teachers don’t know that cell phones in the classroom is unsatisfactory. Phones should be allowed for use during school Cell phones aren 't only used for being on social media and distracting kids, nowadays, there are many other benefits when it comes to use of electronics. Cell phones should be allowed in school not only because a study shows it makes students happy, according to a study conducted in 2005, Sonja Lyubomirsky, Laura King, and Ed Diener found that happiness causes success, but also as an aid, in case of an emergency, and for easier communication skills. Have you ever got scolded at by a teacher because you’ve got caught having your phone out? You should be accused just for having your phone out, it actually serves great potential. Some schools are against having phones because they believe the students focus more on their smart phones than their education, but that’s not always the case. Even though phones could cause a distraction in class, students should still be able to have their phones because they have access to technology at their fingertips, you could use it to save someone 's life, and you could capture evidence of a scene. Having access to technology at your fingertips is really useful when you need it.
After years of struggle between teachers and Students and the use of these smart phones in school, new educational trends are actually encouraging the use of these devices” This is another way of stating, smart phones are already a part of the school system and they aren’t going anywhere. With that being said, teachers should take advantage of this and just use them towards their own, and the Students
