Cell phones in school The first ever cell phone was created in 1973 by Martin Cooper. The purpose of the cell phone was to connect people from around the world wherever they are. Cell phones have changed over time from a huge block phone to phone box to wall, wired phones, and now to wireless smartphones and it is changing with new technology and resources. Cell phones were not only introduced to the world of the working people but also to schools. Cell phones have been introduced in schools since the 1990’s and they have been banned since it has been recorded to be related to drug dealings and gangs. Some schools have allowed cell phones classroom. Now the average age of a student getting their first phone is 10.3. This raises the question: Should cell phones be allowed in school? Some may say that cell phones should be allowed in school because it can help in “classroom or to complete assignments, according to a Pew Research Center study released in February.”(Higgins). I hope to find evidence that cellphones in classrooms can cause grades to drop, that it can cause distractions from school work, activities and others, and that it can cause mental and physical damages to students through bullying. In order to prove, that cell phones cause more damage than help the students, I will have to find statistics that show the before and after effects of cellphones in school. This will not only be grade and tests but also how the school is doing as a whole. To prove that cell phones are a distraction, I will find evidence about how cell phones have put an end to communication, face to face with peers and teachers. I will also find evidence to support my argument that cellphones can cause suicidal thoughts in students and cause self-inflicted
