“I had an awesome time tonight,” I said as the house came into view. Ash Falls was a grand white and blue house that made your mind race to lazy summer days and apple pies before you stepped over its threshold. Complete with a wraparound porch and dormer windows, it was the perfect backdrop for daydreaming. Derek smiled, “I’m glad, I did too. I like you a lot Piper.” We walked around to the back and went to stand near the cherry blossom tree. As the date got closer and closer to the end, I felt increasingly more nervous. “Damn it,” he cursed, startling me. “I’m too late.” I looked at him curiously. “What are you talking about, it was a great kiss.” The smallest lies tasted the worst. He laughed, “Don’t take pity on me Piper, it wasn’t a great kiss, it wasn’t even a good one. You are already caught by him, he’s got you wrapped up around his finger.” A strange thrill ran through me.
