“I had an awesome time tonight,” I said as the house came into view. Ash Falls was a grand white and blue house that made your mind race to lazy summer days and apple pies before you stepped over its threshold. Complete with a wraparound porch and dormer windows, it was the perfect backdrop for daydreaming. Derek smiled, “I’m glad, I did too. “Damn it,” he cursed, startling me. “I’m too late.” I looked at him curiously. “What are you talking about, it was a great kiss.” The smallest lies tasted the worst.
