In order for assistive technology to be useful, teachers and other school professionals need to consider the student’s academic level, experience and needs. This information can be found in the IEP, by having discussions with the student and parents along with other paperwork. These information sources should provide data on academic levels, sensory information, language skills and other material, which need to be taken into account when making AT decisions. All of this information needs to be studied to be able to provide the student with the best assistance. Students with high incident disabilities are those with learning impairments, speech and language concerns and emotional issues. These students will have specific demands, which need to be met. They need intervention strategies such as paired learning, one on one instruction, and plenty of practice. Also, the use of AT will benefit these students. One way to accomplish this goal is through the use of AT. In this situation, programs that will provide many opportunities to practice skills will be very valuable to the student . As a result, the best way to assist these students is through providing many opportunities to be successful. This is because learning and remembering information is very difficult for this type of individual, and by giving them chances to have favorable results the motivation they need is provided. For these students, providing assistive technology through instructional programs with built in rewards systems will assist them in wanting to accomplish their
