Opinion Atomic Bomb Paper - Unassisted The atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagaski was a tragic day in Japan, killing millions of innocent women and children working old and young ages to help the Emperor and country. This was a day that will live in infamy for many Japanese citizens. In my opinion, the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagaski was the worst decision America has made to terminate war. The U.S. had an original plan before the atomic bomb. It was to invade Tokyo and fire behind the opposing teams lines. This would have likely killed about 1% of citizens and 90% of soldiers, the ones who should have been our target. This bomb went 5 miles across both countries. It killed 100,00,000 people in Hiroshima and 70,000 in Nagasaki! Innocent lives were taken because they wanted to end the war. It was very unfortunate for Japan. The one superior to the citizens was Emperor Hirohito, so he made the plans and the Japanese citizens were rarely warned but to keep working. This kind of gave them a mindset that they were winning, but Japan was really on their last few straws of war. They clearly didn’t know they were about to lose the war and kept working, thinking they were gonna win. If there were any other way to end the war faster, it could have been done without hurting citizens. The U.S. could stick to the plan half would be in Tokyo and the other fighting behind enemy lines we would have more people fighting after invading Tokyo the people fighting on the pacific lines would be able to rest for a while. Japan would assume they had taken over the Pacific. Then we could bomb their military bases just like they did to us. The Japanese used these planes filled with gasoline to hit our planes. We could have used regular bombs on them and taught our citizens how to protect themselves when the Japanese attacked, but next level training would have made war life way
