Attachment theory might come across as something completely different than what it really is. The attachment theory that relates to religion is a very rich field of research. In class, we talked about how an attachment figure provides two things: the first being a safe haven in times of threat, the second being a secure base of exploration. The "God" concepts serve these two functions; can be ideal attachment figures. The attachment theory made sense to me more than most of the other 's that we learned about in class. As a child who leaned more towards God, than leaning towards her parent, I suppose one could say that I could relate to the attachment theory because it resembles my childhood experiences. My understanding of this is that a religion person accepts a certain set of beliefs as true and observes a certain set of rituals. A person of the Christian religion believes Jesus is God 's son and observes baptism and communion. A person of the Muslim religion believes Allah is God and observes Ramadan and salat. Spirituality, on the other hand, is the fact of being spiritual and is most often than not evidenced by the act of doing spiritual things. Examples of these things are: praying, meditating, reading scripture, and giving to charity. The one question everyone keeps asking though is; can you have religion without spirituality or vise a verse? I conceive that the video we watched in class over morality without religion goes along these lines in a very big manner. I would say that morality, religion, and spirituality all go hand and hand together. I am not convinced that someone can have one without the other and have a working system that works for their lifestyle. I don 't think that if someone is going to follow whatever they agree within the bible or by their rituals and not follow the ones that they don 't agree with, it doesn 't work that way. One cannot simply be a "half time Christian," I would say that
