To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is an amazing book with an abundant of surprises. Set back in the 1930’s in Maycomb, Alabama, when the Great Depression was happening and racism from the civil war still rages on in this southern city. All the quotes and themes in the novel can still be associated to life today. As the book was narrating in the past by Jean Louise Finch (Scout), there is one man that guides her and her brother, Jem Finch. It is their father, Atticus Finch.
My brother Jem got his arm badly broken when he was thirteen. Luckily, his no-good arm doesn't interfere with his mad football skills, so he didn't care that much. I think everything began with Andrew Jackson, whose actions led to our only ancestor Simon Finch, settling in Alabama, then calling his homestead, Finch’s Landing. If it wasn’t for him, I don’t think that I would be here. My father Atticus moved to Montgomery to go at a law school.
In Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird, Atticus the father of Jean Louise Finch, gave advice that helps Scout throughout the book. Scout applies it to her life but Atticus applies the advice to his life more than any other character. As Jem,Scout, and Dill were playing their new game Boo Radley, they get caught by Atticus.
Throughout our reading from, “To Kill A Movkingbird” we as readers learn more about Atticus and who he is as a character. Atticus is one of the characters that we have learned the most about. Atticus in the novel, is the father of Jem and Scout Finch. On page 118 of, “ To Kill A Mockingbird” it states, “He did not do the things our schoolmates’ did: he never went hunting, he did not play poker, or fish or drink or smoke. We had readers can see from this quote that Atticus is a very enlightened father and how he concentrates in important things in life such as his children and job.
Atticus is already waiting at the jail for something like this to happen, but he soon finds himself in big trouble as the men are surrounding him. The kids, having followed Atticus, show up at the scene. Despite seeing all of the men there Scout did not feel intimidated to go into the middle of the circle and start talking to Mr. Cunningham about Walter. After their attempt at Lyniching Tom fails Mr. Cunningham says, “Let’s clear out,” he called. “Let’s get going boys'' (206).
When I was in the hospital for Atticus I was in labor for 36 hours. I remember having really bad pains in my stomach. I could feel my contractions getting closer together and longer. I couldn't eat food besides the jello they had in the fridge. Everytime Allias would get me one someone would come in and eat it.
The story, To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee has a unique setting of 1933-1935 during the great depression period, in the small county of Maycomb, Alabama. Within the constructs of the story, it follows two characters who consist of Scout and Jem Finch while they live through the great depression and their father Atticus Finch. This story explores the themes of role models, prejudice, Jim Crow law, and morality. The two main characters within the few years that the story takes place experience many changes in their character development and morals by learning many lessons from people around them. However, the person that had the biggest impact on changing Scout and Jem's morals would likely be Atticus Finch, a role model for both of them
Not too long after Jefferson had passed on, Miss Emma’s illness grew worse. My aunt had visited her daily, but I hadn’t had time to visit since I was struggling to teach all of the necessary material before the school year was over. Unfortunately, I heard news that she had passed away earlier this morning from some of my students. The funeral for her was next Sunday and they needed donations to pay for it.
Atticus does something no one could imagine. Atticus takes on the task of defending Tom Robinson, a black man who had been falsely accused of rape, even though the chances of him winning the case are quite literally below zero. Atticus's belief in the fundamental equality of all people is evident when he tells his children, "You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view...until you climb into his skin and walk around in it" (Lee, 33). The quote emphasizes the importance of empathy and Atticus
In To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, the passage I analyzed was a short conversation between Atticus and Jack. This conversation is taking place just days before the controversial trial of Atticus defending a black man accused of rapeing a white woman. Knowing this trial is going to end in an unfortunate verdict, Jack is making sure Atticus wants to follow through with the trial. This passage highlights an important character in the book: Atticus.
“To find yourself, think for yourself.” - Socrates Speaking out and knowing what you stand for will help you find your path and your voice. Throughout history, To Kill A Mockingbird, and our lives today, going along with the crowd and pushing aside individuality hasn 't helped anyone, or anything. Different views and opinions can help create a lot of beneficial change, but when no one is thinking for themselves, it is impossible for this to happen.
Atticus was a great man. He was kind, caring, respectful, well thought of, level headed, and anything and everything that a good lawyer and father should be. He is one too just wants what 's right, which is why he did his best to defend Tom, when the case shouldn 't have been given to him but a low man who just finished the bar Judge taylor gave him the case because he knew he would give it his all to bring out the truth. He also sees everyone as equals and does not believe that the whites are any better than the blacks. Attics makes points toward the jury that in any other place or time would have been ruled in Toms being not guilty but because of the segregation in the deep south of maycomb the jury had their mind made up before tom even
After Jem 's arm healed, things around Maycomb started to settle down again. Although there was some talk about Bob Ewell 's death, it quickly died down, just like the talk of Tom Robinson dying. But there was one thing that would never change. It was a Saturday afternoon, in mid-summer.
I know one person that I would call “ an Attacus” he was my seventh grade bible teacher, Mr. Andrianni. He reminds me of Atticus because of his defiance of what society deems acceptable in his own pursuit to become a more righteous man. Mr. A spoke out against other authorities in our lives and the lies they told us because they wanted to appear to be less controversial and uninformed. He also taught us that through the faults that he would bring to light we should still respect and obey those authorities unless complying would be a sin. Similarly, Atticus did not agree with the townspeople on their morals and he used those people as examples for his children to teach them right and wrong.
Ted Bundy, born as Theodore Robert Cowell, sexually assaulted and murdered multiple women. The actual number is around 30 women but possibly more. Ted Bundy would fake disabilities and injuries to win his victims trust before murdering them. Bundy would continue to visit his victims even after they were dead and their remains started decomposing to give himself sexual gratification. Ted would search around the country for his ideal victim until he was finally apprehended and given the capital punishment in January 1989.
