People may hear your words, but they feel your attitude.” John Maxwell quotes from his book ‘Attitude 101’ When I started my career right after university, I was so ill prepared for those experiences that would push my resolve to have the right attitude. I did not want to be seen as a ‘push-over’ but at the same time I did not want to become someone I would not be proud of. Buzzing in my subconscious was an awareness that I needed to act the way that I wanted to be thought of and not the way that I feel. I am not sure when exactly I developed this resolve or whether it was innate, but this part of my character has been a steady and consistent guide governing my behavior. She was ladylike and modest and groomed me in how a ‘lady’ behaves and the like. I loved Audrey Hepburn’s style … very sophisticated, ladylike and stylish all at the same time! I often poured over JC Penny catalogues to see how to put my clothes together. Now I look at magazines and social media to see what is fashionable and also what NOT to wear. I also look around me to see how others are dressed and note what I admire and then incorporate those into my own style. Not surprisingly, I’ve become a fan of beautiful and well-made dresses, cardigans and scarves for work with a great accent piece whether that is a necklace, a scarf or a bracelet.
