Isabelle Browning Mr. Campbell Honors English 7 15 December 2022 Tangerine Essay Sometimes we make bad decisions that can lead to bad things happening in the future. In the book, Paul Fisher moved to tangerine for his parents' work. He had to go to a new school at Lake Windsor middle school. Everything was fine until he could no longer play soccer because of the IEP form his mom had filled out. Therefore he could no longer play soccer. Now all the attention was on Erik and the Erik Fisher Football Dream. Once a mudslide hit, Paul decided to move to Tangerine middle. He was now able to play soccer again and win the championship. Then Erik and Arthur (his best friend) went around causing trouble. One of Paul's friends (Tino) had an older brother named Luis. Erik hit Tino when he was standing up for himself. Luis then went to stand up for him when Arthur was instructed by Erik to hit Luis in the head. Luis and Paul became pretty close friends. A week after the hit, Luis died. At another kids ceremony Tino came to beat up Erik. Paul then jumped on a teacher to hold him back and then he had to move to a different school. It says in the book, “Just let me go to Tangerine Middle” (Bloor 94). At this point in the book, he is telling his mother and father he wants to go to Tangerine Middle, so he can play soccer again. This is going to affect his development in soccer and as a person. In soccer he will be playing new positions for hurt players and become more experienced. It will also cause the death of Luis Cruz. He went to Tangerine to play soccer and he has made new friends on the team and once one of his friends came over to this house he got in a fight with Erik.
