HERZL AS PROPHET Does Theodore Herzl is really the prophet of the Jewish country of Israel? As Shlomo Avinri describes Herzl’s quotes (Avineri, 1998) as almost surrounded in prophetic aura, I have to disagree with this idea. I believe that Herzl simple was just in the right place at the right time, if he hadn’t moved Zionism to center stage then someone else would have. Herzl 's first choice was not Basel, nor did he initially intend to convene a public congress. As his diaries clearly show, his original policy options were quite different, and only a combination of failures.
When someone thinks of a great African American hero, they usually think of someone such as Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, and to a lesser extent, Harriet Tubman. But many names, such as Robert Smalls, go unnoticed, even though they too, did something incredible that helped win freedom for themselves and others. Smalls is just one hero, and here is his story: On April 5, 1839, Robert Smalls was born into slavery on a Beaufort plantation. Since his father was likely his master, he was treated well as a house slave.
Chris montenegro U.S History Mr. Flynn Monday december 19, 2016 What role did Native Americans play In the Civil War? Native americans had a very important role to the U.S during the civil war. During the Civil War, many Native Americans got split up in choosing either the Union or Confederacy, this Became very important because leading up to the civil war the Union and Confederacy started to realize that Native Americans actually did have a very big impact on the way the war would turn out. The Native Americans created separate armies and took part in a lot of the battles. The war not only affected both of the political sides but also had a great impact on the native americans themselves.
The definition of evacuate is the removal of persons or things from an endangered area. If we were told to evacuate our homes without knowing why, would you? For Ellie Wiesel and his family they did not. Elie Wiesel is fifteen years old when he and his family are deported in May 1944 by the Hungarian gendarmerie and the German SS and police from Sighet to Auschwitz. His mother and younger sister perish; his two older sisters survive.
For this disputation, I had the pleasure of arguing against the topic of be it resolved that you can convince a non-believer to affirm the existence of God using philosophical arguments. As the opposing side, Sarah and I counter argued the following: the argument from motion, the ontological argument, Pascal’s Wager, the cosmological argument, the teleological argument, and the moral argument. The argument from motion argues that it is only possible to experience that which exists, and people experience God, therefore God must exist; however it can be counter argued that since faith cannot be demonstrated or experienced, as it is unseen, God cannot exist.

1) In the allegory of the cave, Plato’s main goal is to illustrate his view of knowledge. A group of prisoners have been chained in a cave their whole lives and all they have ever been exposed to were shadows on the wall and voices of people walking by. The prisoners in the cave represent humans who only pay attention to the physical aspects of the world (sight and sound). Once one of them escapes and sees the blinding light, all he wants is to retreat back to the cave and return to his prior way of living. This shows that Plato believes enlightenment and education are painful, but the pain is necessary for enlightenment and it is worth it.
Leonardo da Vinci asked a question that was important to the art community: “Why shadows cast by bodies on white walls are blue at sunset?” Leonardo later discovered that shadows reflected colors at different angles. Leonardo stated, “‘The surface of any object receives the color of its object. Just because the sun’s light is red it is causing a shadow of the blue sky giving it the color on the white wall.’” Artists today use this important discovery in their paintings to make them as realistic as possible.
