Title? Becoming a nurse practitioner is not simply a career goal for myself; the role and responsibility of a primary care nurse practitioner is my calling. As an undergraduate student, I found my passion in preventative care and health promotion. I knew this would not only translate into the care I would provide as a nurse, but into the care as a nurse practitioner that I wanted to be. Eastern Michigan University has provided me the opportunity to flourish in the art and science of nursing. Continuing in the graduate program will make me into an excellent practitioner. The reasons why I desire to attend graduate school, my professional goals, and future plans are what lead me to the prospect of becoming an Adult-Gerontological Primary Care Nurse Practitioner.
Degree Advancement My determination and desire for knowledge in the discipline of nursing is infinite. By furthering my expertise as an advanced degree nurse, it will allow myself to take those learning opportunities and work with patients across the lifespan. I look forward to embracing the holistic approach to healthcare by treating and caring for the entirety of a person. Adult-gerontology is an area of expertise that I want to cultivate as it relates to the care of the patient throughout the lifespan, beginning at adolescents. That piece of primary care allows for the establishment of therapeutic relationships and working collaboratively with the patient and healthcare team. Preventative care and prophylaxis of disease are important parts of healthcare and I want to become the professional nurse that will provide that to patients.
