I am considering one of the two options. I am leaning more towards the state patrol. I would really enjoy this job and thats why Im researching both of these jobs. Im using this paper to discover what I want to do in my life for an occupation. There are many similar thing between these two jobs, but there are many different things like location, benefits etc. These jobs aren't for everyone, but the question I need to answer is are they for me? Becoming a sheriff or state trooper are two career choices I am considering; however, being a state trooper is a better fit for me because of the better benefits and different atmosphere.

I like the highway patrol because they have jurisdiction in the whole state of Ohio. They also have a special tactical unit that responds to house raids or major drug bust.You have to be (twenty-one years of age) to sign up to try and become a trooper. The sheriff has a special unit also but they don't do as much as the troopers they go to fairs for security patrol out in the country more, and normally are the ones to respond to backup other law enforcement when they need it. These officers have to be well trained to protect your life and theirs so they go through this (19-20 week academy) to learn how to be a cop. They go to get physically fit enough to make the cut, some people refer to this as boot camp. They don't understand without these police officers it would be chaos without any order, but a result from this is technical advancements like the camera on the officer's chest that records video and audio helps solve little problems people claim. The types of vehicles they drive are way different.
