Even some of the best centers in the NBA had trouble scoring on Ben Wallace because he was so much stronger than them. Ben Wallace is one of the strongest NBA players of all time. As a 6-foot-9, 190-pound center, Ben Wallace could bench press 460 pounds. Ben Wallace was so strong that he wore headbands around his arms because wristbands would not fit. Ben Wallace showcased this strength and cruelty not only on the court, but in fights too. Ben Wallace was one of the many players that got involved in the “Malice at the Palace”, a fight that involved fans and players which took place at “The Palace” in Auburn Hills, Michigan. During his layup attempt, he was fouled from behind by the Indiana Pacers, Ron Artest. Ben Wallace was born September 10, 1974, he was the 10th of 11 siblings. As a kid Ben Wallace played football, basketball and baseball where he received all-state honors in all three sports at Central High School, Alabama. Throughout high school and post-secondary school, Ben Wallace was always forced to play shooting guard in practice, but his passion was to play the center position. None of the coaches believed in Ben Wallace due to him being “undersized” as a center. On his journey to the NBA, Ben Wallace’s mission was to prove these coaches wrong by showing them that he was not undersized for a center. The day finally came for Ben Wallace to get drafted into the NBA, he waited throughout the whole NBA draft but was not drafted. Ben Wallace had gone undrafted, which made him want to prove his high school and post-secondary school coaches wrong even more. After going undrafted, Ben Wallace went to Italy to try out for Italian team Viola Reggio Calabria in 1996, but there was a problem. Ben Wallace only played one game in the entire season. In 1996 the Washington Bullets gave Ben Wallace a chance and signed him until 1999, but Ben Wallace did not do great.
