Horns blaring. Brakes slamming. 90 percent of Americans use their car every day to get them to places. For many people this is a necessity in their day, as the average American drives for 77 minutes per day. The most important invention in the world today is the car. The car has developed throughout time, and has made a very impactful impression on humans to this day. The first car dates back to 1885, and the inventor given credit for the car was Karl Benz. There were also many other people, like Henry Ford, who had designed a car called the model T in 1908. Ford is mainly known for the assembly lines and the mass production of cars he produced. Benz started selling the model three towards the very end summer in 1888. The model three was the first automobile to be sold. The motor wagon did not have any gears so therefor it couldn’t go uphill. Bertha Benz took her two sons, 66 miles to her mother’s home. She had to make repairs to the car with things such as shoe leather and hair pins. She suggested to her husband that the car would need another gear shift. In honor of Bertha Benz’s trip, every two years in Germany there is an antique automobile gathering. Benz’s model three made it to the world fair in Italy in 1889. The company had taken off going from 50 employees in 1889 to 430 in 1899. In the last years of the nineteen hundreds Benz’s had the largest automobile company in the world. The company had sold 572 cars by 1899. While all of this was happening a man by the name Gottlieb Daimler and his partner Wilhelm Maybach founded a company called Daimler motors. (DMG) They sold their first automobile in 1892. The car is one of people most cherished items to this day. Mercedes Benz is still going strong as a company to this day.
