The Dodge brothers, Horace and John, started their company in the early 1900’s. Although, they didn’t make cars like their company does today. They first started out making bicycles in Canada, and were even known to have a few races with their creations. Then, they tried their hand at stoves.

Number Six: Creating Dependability
It has since been speculated, but the Dodge company may be responsible for adding the word “dependability” to the English language. While some believe the appearance of this word first started in 1901, it didn’t really catch on until Theodore McManus began advertising with it under the car company in 1914.
Number Five: Gearing Up for Winter
Around the same time (1914), the brothers also created another invention that would revolutionize America: the “winterized” car. When automobile companies realized that cars didn’t have an exceptional tolerance to the cold, the brothers sprang into action with removable hardtops and side glass snap-ons.
Number Four: The Fratzog
Oddly enough, the early name given to the Doge logo was “the fratzog”. This term was used from 1962-1981 to describe the three interwoven triangles, which is apparently called a fratzog. The designer coined this term after he created the unique symbols.
