The short story, “Good enough” by Rachel Vail, speaks about the main character Dori and how she starts as what the poem, “Identity” by Julio Noboa Polanco would say as a flower but transform into a weed at the end. Dori tries to impress or fit in with the popular girls by getting an Orion shirt they all wear for Dori’s birthday. However, Dori’s family is not in the best financial situation, so this makes it really hard on the parents to get this. On Dori’s birthday she opens a present to find that her mom has given her a fake, which hurts her, but she does not tell her parents, so they do not feel bad. When Dori wears it to school the next day one of the popular girls goes up to her and taunts her about it, Dori ends up crying but catches herself and remembers that even though its fake her mom had so much love behind it and did her best which makes Dori get over it and know that it's okay to not be in the popular group or be different.
The book I read was People of the Sparks by Jeanne DuPrau. The book is about all the people of Ember getting to this village that got out of a depression a few years ago and they are finally back up on their feet. Some of the people of Sparks don't like that the council people let the Emberties just settle in their village. The book is mostly about how the Emberties struggle to adapt and how they come to peace with the people of Spark. The narrator is someone from outside the story, so the point of view is third person.

The casta term “Indian” confined Andeans to the notion that they were subjects; obedient to the crown and always paid tribute. The idea that Indians were poor and miserable creatures that needed protection first emerged in the sixteenth century. Indians that paid tribute and that served mita were the ones that received protections because it meant that they were in compliance with the Spanish crown. In return, the crown would make them vassals-- thus making Indians important members of the colonial society and distinguishing them from Africans. However, converting Indians into vassals also benefited the crown’s economic goals as they exploited Indians for labor.
Classism and its Effects on Society:“The Stolen Party” by Liliana Heker Analysis Society, since the beginning of humankind, has created the idea of social class, differentiating people based on social, political, economical, and financial basis. The contribution of this system in modern day society creates this great gap and repercussions that the lower class has to suffer with. In Liliana Heker’s “The Stolen Party”, it is no different. Heker, through this story, using symbols, figurative language, and irony proves that the difference in fact, is vast and that prejudice lies ubiquitously between the lines. A young girl and the daughter of a maid, Rosaura, gets invited (or so she thought) to go to her “friend” Luciana’s party, unaware of why
In “The Stolen Party” by Liliana Heker there was a common theme of interactions of social classes. Heker created this theme by showing Rosaura and Luciana’s interactions at a birthday party for Luciana. Throughout the story, it is hard to see the exact theme but it was confirmed at the end of the birthday party by Luciana’s mom Senora Ines. Rosaura simply believed that she and Luciana were true friends. There was also a suggestion that led them to believe that her mom was overreacting in the beginning.
In the story that being raised in a different culture can cause conflicts. But a job is a job and I am required to review all types of books. Fortunately enough, the book I was asked to review was pretty interesting.
