As a result of this underlying principle of empowering employees, Bluford was able to reduce the employee turnover at the Truman medical center by more than 64%. Empowering employees and encouraging them to directly contribute to the success of the organization leads to employees feeling more inspired and motivated to achieve the goals set by the organization. Furthermore, the overall turnaround of the corporate culture and financial operation at Truman Medical Center was attributed to the transformational leadership of Bluford. Bluford’s innovation of the “Corporate Academy” at TMC revitalized the organization as a whole. The corporate academy was a creation that was created to build and develop the skills and expertise of employees through the academic courses that ranged from GED classes to the masters level.
