In my assessment Bison is fairly clear with respect to their organizational structure. Their structure vertically connects every job in the company to a higher level of management. When you view this structure it is clear of who reports to whom. For example seen on Bison’s organizational chart (ORG) provided, the CEO directly reports to the Owner Mr. Jessiman. The CEO holds the span of control and the authority to delegate line of authority to specific level s of management, for example you can see the Director of Business Development and Logistics, directly reports to the Vice President of Logistics and Multi Modal.
The Little Book of Healthy Organizations Chapters 1-4 This little book is a metaphorical synopsis of the dynamics of organizations. The authors compare organizations to a tree. The roots of the tree are the starting foundational factors from where the company grows including the physical structure and the social structure. The trunk of the tree is the leadership of the organization.
Systems View of the Organization The Varsity Reds is an open system organization because it has a link to the external environment and all the key aspects of an open system described by systems theory including inputs, throughputs, and outputs. According to Hutchinson, a formal organization is a collection of people with formal structure in efforts of working together to meet goals. The formal organization I am analyzing is Jewish Family Services where I am pursuing my MSW generalist internship. Through my analysis I will look at the agency through a critical lens and analyze how they operate and respond to change. Organizational Overview Jewish Family Services provides services to the broader Rochester community.

Organizational Structure- The BPP model could be summed up with the following formula: “(THEORY + INTERSECTIONALITY) + (PRAXIS + EDUCATION) = CLASS CONSCIOUSNESS = REVOLUTIONARY CHANGE” (Jenkins 6).
When reading this week’s Chapters in Bolman and Deal, one particular heading in Chapter Seventeen of Reframing Leadership, caught my attention. For example, Bolman and Deal’s Heading on the Evolution of the Idea of Leadership, notes five propositions on the role of leadership. 1. First, one of the five propositions of Bolman and Deal’s Evolution of the Idea of Leadership, is that the concept of leadership needs to not be viewed as a position, but as an activity (Bolman and Deal, 2013, p. 344).

Being conscious - Understand the impact you make in the workplace. Know how people perceive you and you will build better and more effective relationships. Out of the seven success behaviors that were discussed in the article, The Successful Organization: Keeping the Talent That Drives Your Results; the one that I can identify the most with would be being conscious. Both in my professional and personal life I try my best to be mindful on the impact my words, actions, and body language can have on those around me.
The study is based on administering a combination of qualitative approach of contextualised ethnographic interviews and observations. With references to the data collected by Holck (2016), Agency was a corporate centre famed for its diversity profile due to its ethnically diversified and specialized workforce. The office space was open and its physical layout was based on a transparent style which means openness. Hierarchical structures can easily be paralyzed by an overload of information and standardizing procedures tends to lead to more bureaucracy, which reduces the organization’s ability to react quickly to changing market conditions. Additionally internal silos limit collaboration and knowledge sharing (Atkinson, 2003; Fontaine, 2007). Considering the limitations of
2.1.1 What is an Organization? Different definitions exist for the word “Organization” as mentioned by (Mintzberg, 1983): "Every organized human activity -- from the making of pots to the placing of a man on the moon -- gives rise to two fundamental and opposing requirements: The division of labor into various tasks to be performed, and the coordination of these tasks to accomplish the activity". While (Lawrence & Lorsch, 1967) mentions defines the organization in terms of its effectiveness: "The most effective organizations achieve a degree of differentiation and integration in organizational boundary-spanning functions which is compatible with environmental demands" (Blau & Scott, Formal Organization, 1962, p.5) defines it as: "Formal organization:
There exist mixed opinions and perceptions about bureaucracy, and is application in the study of the modern-day organizations. While some feel that bureaucracy is suitable for a majority of 21st century organizations, others have the perception that it is unfit for these organizations. Those who maintain that bureaucracy is appropriate for modern organizations contend that it reinforces employee commitment, motivation, and trust, while easing tension emanating from conflict of interests as employees strive to accomplish their routine tasks. On the other hand, those opposing such proponents argue that bureaucracy is characterized by employee alienation, low commitment levels, and too much inflexibility, making it unsuitable for the rapidly changing
