When reading this week’s Chapters in Bolman and Deal, one particular heading in Chapter Seventeen of Reframing Leadership, caught my attention. For example, Bolman and Deal’s Heading on the Evolution of the Idea of Leadership, notes five propositions on the role of leadership.

1. First, one of the five propositions of Bolman and Deal’s Evolution of the Idea of Leadership, is that the concept of leadership needs to not be viewed as a position, but as an activity (Bolman and Deal, 2013, p. 344).
 For the most part, I have been in leadership roles at my family-based cleaning business. In brief, at the Tennin Cleaning Service, I have been in leadership roles that included me to guide new custodial members on how to perform custodial duties effectively. Also, I have parlay in leadership roles at the family-based cleaning business that involved me to give effective criticism for custodial members who are not completing his or her custodial duties effectively and in return, positive feedback to the custodial members. When discussing on how to improve my leadership efforts, one characteristic is certain that I must stop portraying myself as the superhero known as, Batwoman.

However, at the end of day, I am human. Sometimes, leaders in any position are viewed as larger-than-life figures, or in this case, superheroes from their followers. Leaders are human beings, who show emotions, similar to any other human being. Therefore, I think it is important leaders overall to not present themselves as larger-than-life figures and let their followers know that he or she is human and bound to make mistakes. It takes a true leader to admit to their mistakes and try to correct
