THE BOOK OF MATTHEW
Introduction
Mathew is one of the four gospel books written in the New Testament. The gospel in the new testament are Mathew, Mark ,Luke and John .They story or narrative of this book is about Jesus it entails his Genealogy, His birth, The visit of the wise men or magi, There escape with their parents when he was a child from Egypt, His Return from Nazareth, John the Baptist preparing for him the way as the messiah, His Baptism in the river Jordan ,The temptation in the desert, The beginning of his preaching , the calling of his disciples, His Miracles , his Parables, The betrayal of Judas his death and resurrection.
The purpose of Apostle Matthew writing this canonical gospel
Matthew intends to prove to the Jews that Jesus Christ is the promised Messiah .It quotes that the Old Testament shows how Jesus fulfilled the words of the Jewish

This means they wanted a Messiah who would fulfill their own desire and meet their own terms.
From the Pharisees we learn that we seek god in our own terms and ascribe to him only those attributes we find acceptable like feeling his love, mercy, grace. While rejecting those we find objectionable like his wrath, Justice and holy anger?
As Christians we should learn not to make the same mistake as the Pharisees that is making a god who is nothing more than an idol. This is seen as creating God in our own image then expecting him live in our standards.
Secondly I have learnt from Matthew in order for us to be good enough to enter heaven we should practice and teach the commandments that were given to us in order to be great in the kingdom of heaven and our righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, This is in accordance to( Matt
