While reading the book Night by Elie Wiesel, one of the things I learned about was the jews living conditions. I read about Elie living them with many other jews and it stuck out to me because how could a person live like that and stay alive? Every jew that was caught was sent to a concentration camp and had a total different way of lifestyle when being held there. Another thing that stuck out while reading the book was the SS officers. The SS officers are Hitler's protective unit.

The book called “Night” is a great book to read about survival of the fittest. The book was written by a man named Elie Wiesel and was about his experience during the Holocaust. His book has some interesting parts about how he and other Jews saw the Holocaust before and after they were taken to concentration camps. Before the Jews were taken to the camps, they thought that since the war was so far away and was going to end soon, they were safe. That soon changed because they had the chance to run and hide, but did not take it.
The Holocaust was a very traumatic event for everyone who experienced it and those who came after, and it gave many people experience, trauma, and disorders that they should never have had. Those of us who did not personally experience the pain will never know what those Jews went through in those camps, but Maus and Night share the experiences and horrors that millions of Jews had to live through. Maus is a survivor tale that tells the author, Artie Speigelmen’s father’s experiences in the Holocaust and his retelling through a graphic novel. Night is an autobiography written by Elie Wiesel that recounts the experiences of a teenager in a concentration camp during the Holocaust. The death march in Night by Elie Wiesel is started when all the prisoners were forced to leave the camp that they were at and relocate to a new camp. The night was very cold and snowy, and Elie’s foot was already hurt because of some pus that was in it. His only choice was to go on with the march on a hurt foot or stay in the camp and probably die anyways. He decided to go on the march because he wanted to be with his father and he didn’t want to die helplessly. At around six at night, the entire camp lines up in formation and they all started marching block by block.

I believe the author’s purpose in writing this memoir was to write about the cruelty of the Nazi soldiers in the concentration camps and to be a voice for the Jews, specifically his family. He wanted to be the “messenger of the dead among the living”.
You may think about how to fight indifference or maybe you don’t. Either way there is a responsible way to help solve indifference. I think in the face of indifference the responsible way to approach indifference is to take your time researching and not spreading false information and taking action. Having the correct research will increase your ethos which is a good thing to have.
The books Night by Elie Wiesel and The True Story of Hansel and Gretel by Louise Murphy are both books about the holocaust. Though they are based off of the same event, they are quite different in many ways, just like they are the same in others. The book Night is about a boy and his father who are Jewish and are forced to go to a concentration camp. This book is mostly about what it was like in the concentration camps and how the characters suffered. The True Story of Hansel and Gretel, on the other hand, is about two Jewish kids who are separated from their parents and find a old lady to help them.
