The second world war (WWII) was one of the most widespread and deadliest wars. This lasted for six years from 1939 to 1945. During this war, Hitler was appointed chancellor of Germany, causing the Holocaust. Because of this, more than fifty million military and civilians died. At the time, Elie Wiesel was fifteen years old when him and his family were forced to leave their home.
While reading the book Night by Elie Wiesel, one of the things I learned about was the jews living conditions. I read about Elie living them with many other jews and it stuck out to me because how could a person live like that and stay alive? Every jew that was caught was sent to a concentration camp and had a total different way of lifestyle when being held there. Another thing that stuck out while reading the book was the SS officers. The SS officers are Hitler's protective unit.

In the midst of Elie’s World War II experience, Elie has an extra burden weighing him down-- his father.
Elie Wiesel was a writer known for his memoir Night, in which he recounted his experiences for surviving the Holocaust. He was born on September 30, 1928 in Romania. During his early life, Elie Wiesel pursued Jewish religious studies before his family was sent to the Nazi death camps during WWII. Wiesel and his father were forced to work under inhumane conditions in Buna Werke labor camp. Then, they were forced to march to Buchenwald where his father died after being beaten.
In the book Night, the author describes his life being a prisoner for the Nazis. In this book, we are described with how Eli survived and what he and his father went through. We learn about how the prisoners were treated in the concentration camps. In the next two paragraphs, I will be sharing my opinion on what I think are the two most terrifying experiences the author, Eli, had to endure.
The Holocaust was a very traumatic event for everyone who experienced it and those who came after, and it gave many people experience, trauma, and disorders that they should never have had. Do you know about the holocaust? In the book, Night, by Ellie Weisel there were many terrible things that happened. Among these terrible things were the loss of many innocent people, Jews were separated from their family and undiagnosed PTSD from the few survivors. In the story many people were separated and some put into gas chambers and suffocated. They were mostly transported in cattle cars that were extremely crowded.
Night, by Elie Wiesel, is a very dark and heavy book. The book is called night because the night is a dark, heavy, uncontrollable thing just like Elie’s life going through all the camps he did. The life in the first ghetto was good. They were allowed to practice their own religion and had a synagogue.

Hitler killed and tortured many innocent people, and gained a following known as the Nazis. World War II lasted six years in Europe, however many people didn’t anything about it for years. Today people have technology and can communicate with others in a matter of seconds. However in 1939 this technology was not available and that lead to people being in the dark to what really was happening. I think the world didn’t do anything because they were scared and thought it was unbelievable or because they didn’t know in the first place.
In class we read the nonfiction book, Night by Elie Wiesel. It is a story about Elie, as a young teen, being a victim of the Holocaust and the gruesome situations he been in. In the book Elie says, “The world is not interested in us” (Wiesel 33). I believe that this statement is true. The world did not do anything to save the Jewish people and just observed them being treated like objects.
At the end of the book, when Camp Buchenwald is liberated by the American army, it is shown how badly Elie and the rest of the population’s physical health is. This happened because they are all mechanized by the Nazis to make them subservient and take away any hope of living as they please. The train ride to Birkenau harms everyone’s emotional health as they lose all feeling of compassion for one another aboard the train ride. This is caused by treatment similar to that of animals being sent to a slaughter house. Finally, we see how dehumanization affects an individual’s mental state, specifically in Moishe the Beadle.
The Nazis started treating Jewish people worse than animals. Elie’s family was ultimately removed from their home forever and placed in a ghetto. They had to give up their prized possessions in order to avoid the Nazis. Worst of all, they lost their freedom. Eventually, they were transported by train to a concentration camp having no idea what was in store for them.
Throughout human history, many things have happened. We all have done bad and good things to others and have forgotten that “all men are created equal.” In the book Night, was written by Elie Wiesel, the author has brought me into to a new world of experiencing how, specifically, human have done wrongly things to others. Started with hatred, the Nazi Party turned themselves into what’s called “mass murders” mainly targeted to the Jewish. They were the army that under-controlled by Adolf Hitler.
Another day in the same cattle car, yet this time it has come to a stop. Some of them are dead, most starved, but none of them know what is coming. They have now arrived at Auschwitz where “Work Will Set You Free”. They have started to experience the Holocaust. The Holocaust was the event of Hitler wanting to eliminate all Jews because he did not like them and thought they needed to be eliminated due to them being different, he eliminated them by putting them in concentration camps.
