During slavery, African Americans were treated as possessions in the same way that livestock were regarded as possessions. The hog symbolizes the awful, dehumanizing thinking behind slavery. In Jefferson’s trial, his defense attorney refers to him as a hog, “Gentlemen of jury...put a hog in the electric chair” (Gaines 15-16). A hog symbolizes how the whites in the community treated the blacks and how they think about them socially. A hog is a filthy animal, which in the time period of the 1940’s is how most whites viewed blacks, and believed that blacks were good for nothing but to work for the whites.
The story “The Pigman” by Paul Zindel is a very good book in my opinion. The book is about two kids who’s avocation is pranking. They love to prank people when they are with eachother. When they prank people they sometimes mortify them and try to make them look bad or stupid. In the story the one main charachter Lorraine, called a man by the name of Angelo Pignati and he anwsered the phone.
Lipstick on a Pig The Sequel. This image was created by John Cole and found on the California Political review. In this image, John Cole interpreted Super Pacs by portraying an image of a very fat pig holding a former president. When creating this image, Cole was trying to bring up the issue of super pacs and because of the size of the pig he is also showing the power that these pacs have. Super Pacs are a new idea where committees can raise an unlimited amount of money from super rich corporations, labor unions, and other entities to support and advertise their candidate in the election.

While all three are responsible for Mr. Pignati’s death, a majority of the blame falls on the Pigman because he is oblivious to the truth, acts immaturelyunderage, and he is lonely. One reason the Pigman is responsible for his own death is because he is oblivious. Although his wife is deceased, he still speaks of her as if she is alive. For example, Mr Pignati says, “‘My wife collects pigs’” (43). His oblivion also shows when he states, ‘“My wife is not home just now’”
Piggy is always talking about him aunt bringing in a female opinion on an island full of boys, by doing this it makes him more mature. “ “I'm scared of him” said Piggy “ and that's why i know him. If you're scared of someone you hate him but you can't stop thinking about him. You kid yourself he's alright really an’ then when you see him again; it's like asthma an’ you can't breathe. I tell you what.
40 developmental assets reflect what you learned in your childhood life. In the novel The Pigman, these assets are shown by all characters. In this novel John allows you to explore the 40 developmental assets, caring, other adult relationships, and honesty. In the beginning of the novel John does not really fit either of those, but as he grows up, he starts to fit into those assets. He was a very bad kid until he met Mr. Pignati, Mr. Pignati was a very kind man who cared for John very well.
The Pigman by: Paul Zindel is a amazing story that takes you on a ride with it’s characters, I think it is a story that would be a good read for anyone in middle school or older, but not younger because it is a wonderful, but still very depressing, and dark story. In “The Pigman” the story takes place mostly at Mr.Pignati’s house on Howard Avenue. The characters in the story are Lorraine, John, and Mr. Pignati.
Author, William Golding, in his novel, "Lord of the Flies," follows a group of British boys who are stranded on an uninhabited island and try to govern themselves. One of the boys, Piggy, is constantly bullied and considered a nuisance by the power-hungry boys on the island. Golding's use of an isolated setting in the midst of the other boys illustrates Piggy's struggle to liberate himself from their oppression. However the need to survive reveals Piggy's inventiveness and rational mindset.

Babe: The Gallant Pig The book I read is called Babe. In the beginning, of the book a farmer named Mr.Hogget enters a contest at the fair to guess the weight of a pig. If anyone guessed the correct weight of the pig, he or she wins it.
In The Pigman by Paul Zindel, the character John Conlan’s philosophy on life is too irresponsible and selfish. John chooses to put himself first even if it’s at the expense of others. When he and Lorraine went to collect Mr. Pignati’s money for their “charity”, he said “‘I’ve been thinking, and I’ve decided we’d better go over and collect the ten bucks,’... ‘We’re not doing anything bad,’ I insisted. ”(36).
John and Lorraine are close friends and they have a really close connection with each other they become really close with Mr. Pignati. Before that all happened, John and Lorraine were prank calling Mr. Pignati, and they tricked him into donating money to a fake fund called the L & J Fund. “ Now Lorraine can blame all the other things on me, but she was the one who picked out the Pigman's phone number. If you ask me, I think he would have died anyway. Maybe we speeded things up a little, but you really can't say we murdered him”(3).
