This is where it ends Marieke Nijkamp is an author of the book This is where it ends. This is the only book she has written so far. It was just published in 2016. She still lives in the Netherlands which was where she was born. The book takes place at Opportunity High School, it takes place in the modern era and the book lasts 54 minutes exactly because each new chapter has a time frame of minutes. There are 2 conflicts that are focused on in the book which are, Man vs. Man and Man vs. Society. The part of this book that makes this book as good as it is, everyone needs to fear the boy with the gun which the book says on the cover. The person who initiates the conflict is the shooter himself because he is the one who causes all of this to happen. The conflict is resolved when the shooter is killed and people get out safely with the help of the police department. There are 5 major characters, Autumn, Sylv (short for Sylvia), Tomas, Claire, and Tyler. Autumn who is Tyler’s sister is very quiet and keeps to herself most of the time. Sylvia is Tomas’s sister and is very smart and is best friends with Autumn and always seems to have an opinion. Tomas is a rebel and doesn’t like to listen but will do anything for the sake of his sister.Claire is the girl who is in Track and enjoys it most of the time. Her little brother gets left in the gym and she is outside running and she gets help for the students. Tyler is different, he is the shooter and no one really understands why until later in the book because he is just different and was planning on not coming back to Opportunity High School. The book focuses on how they all found a way to get people out safely and some who couldn’t get out safely but they found a way to.
